@rotofils: I just had a look at your site. It looks useful, but I would like to use reference parsing locally on my pc. Before I found this discussion I started writing on some code for that, but maybe I can use yours. Is your code GPL or do yo…

Yes, of course DOIs are unique, but only as document identifiers on the net. Is it a unique identifier in Zotero too? Thanks, gnotero looks useful, but unfortunately it does not seem to work well yet on MS Windows. I will try to file a bug repo…

Sorry, with cluttering I just meant getting a second copy in the wrong place in the db. And sometimes have just downloaded a report as pdf and just need a bibliography. (But perhaps this means I just should learn more about Zotero.) Thanks for …

Thanks ajlyon, I understand. I am trying to get a quick way to get a bibliography without starting FF which I am the moment is not using very much due to some problem I have had. Looking at the Zotero site I see that a standalone version o…

Thanks, I have found it. (But I can't figure out how it works. Just replacing the link with "/export.mpx?code=CODE" does not work for me.)

Hi Adam, Sorry, I was not clear enough. I meant what Zotero looks for on those pages to get the information.

Ah, thanks, I was fooled by the "Keyword", I thought it was something else... What I needed was a simple way to create a link from an ISBN and I see now both worldcat and google makes this possible. (It needs to be a bit more official so worldc…

Thanks Adam, yes you are right. That is all that matters here. (Though I still think that it is problem that it points to non open access material.)

Thanks for the explanation about DOI. About google: I just meant that this seemed to me to be the place where you can find most books. I did not know about worldcat. Can I search for a book using its ISBN number on worldcat? I can't find t…

I agree, but a problem with DOI in my opinion is that it can point to material that is not open to access for anyone. That makes it in my opinion kind of useless.

Thanks Adam, This was mostly exactly what I thought and hoped for. It feels a bit strange that books normally do not have DOIs, especially now that Google Books have links to most of them. Are we going to depend solely on Google for links?…

@ajlyon: Jetpack looks like a good idea. This is probably what I want. It does not necessarily mean that a lot of rewriting is needed. The cost could be minimized by choosing API:s similar in structure to the current API and also by providing a…

@ajlyon: Then the road forward would be to standardize this interface.

I think the right way to go is to loby Google to support FF extensions. Right now is a good time since FF is having trouble with many sites at the moment.

Thanks ajlyon, but why can't it create a temporary database item which it drops when it has given me the bibliography entry? (My computer will not mind about the extra work.) I will have a look at citeproc and see what it can do.

Hi adam, Sorry for not responding. Here is the thoughts on the workflow. Normally you are on a page with a report you want a reference to you first save it in Zotero and then you right-click it and chooses "Create Bibliography from selecte…

It could grab the data from the web page, or?
