Please do note that the disambiguation may actually be required -- you should make sure that you do not in fact have multiple authors with the same last name. If you do, make sure that your style guide does not require disambiguation. If you don't, …

Yes -- we're trying to determine whether we cover the needs of users who use multiple languages. This is not yet a replacement for your normal Zotero usage, and you should only install it in a fresh Firefox profile (http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/…

Are there currently spaces between the initials in the authors' names in your Zotero library? It sounds to me like D.V.M. is being treated as a single word, a single name. What if you change it to D. V. M. (i.e., with spaces) in the item data in Zot…

Too bad it seems either I have to migrate to Firefox from Chrome and to Zotero from Papers/Endnote or forget about Word 2011 and documents with complicated formatting :) See http://www.zotero.org/blog/zoteros-next-big-step/ The code for standalone a…

For all Zotero users interested in the problem of translated and transliterated fields, I recommend that you read Frank's detailed description of the branch as it now stands, at http://gsl-nagoya-u.net/http/pub/zotero-multilingual-overview.html . I…

You should be able to set keyboard shortcuts for Zotero.

The metadata that Zotero is detecting for that site is indeed very low quality -- sites have to make an effort to expose computer-readable data for Zotero to use; see http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/make_your_site_zotero_ready for details. If you …

Note that these aren't IDs, but rather port numbers. Regardless, it sounds like UPenn needs to think about reducing the complexity of their proxy system--- I don't see why the port needs to change randomly. If the correct port number is unpredictab…

It sounds like that long tag was added by a misbehaving site translator. If you happen to know the URL that you got it from and you don't mind sharing it here, I'll look into addressing the bug that created that tag to begin with.

Doesn't Zotfile handle this? http://www.columbia.edu/~jpl2136/zotfile.html

Which temp files are you referring to? In general, you shouldn't touch files in the Zotero data directory (http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data). Other temp files, like those that Firefox creates during browsing, can be deleted without harming…

This sounds like a confusing aspect of the Zotero terminology. This is likely an oversight, and I'm not sure how this should be interpreted and addressed. The text field in the right column for attachments is not what Zotero calls a note -- notes a…

The options for pdftotext that you noted are sufficient to limit full-text indexing to only part of the PDF, but we still would be attaching the entire PDF. No way of linking to a specific page in a PDF (as when double-clicking on the PDF) or of spl…

Take a look at http://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#debugging_broken_documents ; specifically, try making a copy of the file and deleting pieces of it until the problem goes away.

It does seem to be that case that documents can occasionally break. If you copy and paste the document contents to a new document, does the problem persist in the new document? If it does, can you isolate a part of the document that, when copied to…

I'm concerned about how the parsing works inside Zotero-- if I enter "10 декабря 2009 г." in a date field, Zotero parses it as 2009-00-10. I hope that it does parse correctly for users in the "ru" locale, but there's no reason to expect that my data…

I think that legal styles do this sort of thing. I have no idea how they do it, but support for them is one of the central improvements in style support for Zotero 2.1 (now in beta).

Since the multilingual branch is not released at all at this point, I think that most error reports would be best kept to zotero-dev. We'll work this out on zotero-dev-- just post there. Also, it would be helpful if you could translate the error mes…

While we're adding to the wishlist / use cases / specifications for a new date system, can we handle multiple languages as well? It looks like months and seasons are/will be parsed in the current locale only (or just in English?) -- this is of cours…

Both of these resources look like good candidates for COinS or unAPI-based solutions-- they are small publishers/journals with a commitment to open access. If you have contacts within these organizations, encourage them to look at http://www.zotero.…

This is a potential are for improvements in Zotero drag-and-drop, though. If the GMail attachments area accepts files, perhaps changes could be made to allow PDFs to be dragged from the library pane directly to the attachments area?
-
It's not related to this thread, but you can have PDF Nitro open PDFs from Zotero -- just set it as the default handler for PDFs in Firefox. I used Skim (for Mac) in this way for quite some time without any issues.

I'm sorry to hear that this caused such trouble for you. Where precisely in the documentation would you have wanted to find an explanation of how this works?

That RIS files imports into Zotero without any alterations for me, so it looks like the Scopus translator is broken in some other way. Unless someone is able to provide a translator developer (like, say, me) with access to Scopus, we won't be able …

For these and other AquaBrowser catalogs (i.e., Harvard's HOLLIS), you can click on the "Export to .ris" or "Export to Endnote" links in item records in the meantime. You will have to check the box to have Zotero handle RIS/Refer files in the Zotero…

In that case, you can make a translator that wraps such names as you'd like, then calls the main BibTeX translator. That's a little bit more conceptually complex, but it would be just a few lines of code.
-
You can make a copy of BibTeX.js under another name and generate a new UUID for it. Make your changes to that copy, and it will not be replaced with Zotero updates.
-
See http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/creating_translators_for_sites , but I'm not sure that the code works with the current release of Zotero.

For Windows and Linux, you can use Gnotero http://www.cogsci.nl/gnotero to quickly access your PDF attachments without going through the Zotero interface. This isn't quite the same as your curated hierarchical folder structure, but it may cover the …
