For what it's worth, the Linux build doesn't seem to have an icon either, though complaints about icon pixelation lead me to believe that the Mac version has an icon.

I'm not sure yet how much we'll have to do to support this version of SIRSI, but it looks like it shouldn't be too hard. This won't happen overnight, but expect a new translator in the coming weeks. If you happen to know any other libraries that ar…

So much for my most recent attempt to encourage some large institution to take on the job of making private metadata servers a reality. But I'm certainly glad to hear that the present sync delays should be on their way out.
-
The sync issues are a priority here, and they will get better. Nonetheless, Zotero syncs have never been instantaneous, and it would be unwise to build your workflow around the assumption that changes on one computer will propagate immediately. The …

The unstated thesis of my post above is that this will need attention from people with more experience hacking the Zotero translation machinery.
-
I'm not seeing what is causing this to happen. The Wikipedia export translator has not seen any significant changes in the past few years, so my instinct (supported by my attempts to eliminate this or make any progress in diagnosing it) is that the …

mapmaker: Start a new thread, and include some sample URLs that do and don't work for you.

The best approach is usually to use the address bar. Zotero can also intercept and import certain formats when you download them, but then it often does better using the site translators, accessed through the address bar.
-
No, this is broken. I haven't yet made a serious attempt to pin down the cause, but a lot changed in the translator (export) system between 2.1b1 and 2.1b2. It can and should still be fixed.
-
This is something I'm interested in as well. The performance boost of things like searches and indexing not tying up Firefox would be welcome. It seems silly, I suppose, to want Zotero to run in XULrunner when Firefox is open anyway, but -- I think …

I think that first we need to explore Simon's question-- are the advanced RTF features supported by any word processors apart from Microsoft Word? It would be useful if someone tested such features in the leading RTF-using word processors.

but when I press "next" to submit the error it tells me to wait while it is being submitted and then never finishes I had the same issue with error reporting not finishing just yesterday; I attributed to my flakey internet connection, but maybe the…

Item counts as tooltips would be nice and not sacrifice screen space. Then there would be room for things like: 1023 items in 12 subcollections (4321 total items) Or something that sounds clearer, to give the number of child items as well.

Oops. As Dan states above, the Cairn issue now just reduces to the general DOI breakage in 2.1b2, which is fixed in 2.1b3. Cairn should work fine now in 2.0.9 as well. Looks like our work here is done.
-
The JSTOR fix is now in the repository (https://www.zotero.org/trac/changeset/7686). It will be in the next Zotero release. I'll be looking into the Cairn issue.

I don't see what the problem is -- WOT is the Web of Trust add-on, right? The picture doesn't show anything wrong, so far as I can tell. Does Zotero work normally without WOT installed? Does WOT work normally without Zotero installed?
-
It has. Thanks.
-
The direction here is backwards-- Google Apps needs an API for Zotero to reliably interface with. In the meantime, the best that you can do is RTF scan (http://www.zotero.org/support/rtf_scan) or copy-and-paste.
-
As Dan indicates, this sounds suspiciously like a syncing or backup system gone wrong -- the behavior your seeing is precisely what you'd get if an automated sync was overwriting your Zotero data directory with old contents.
-
The discussion of what may or may not work in the RDF importer should probably move to zotero-dev, I suppose. The translator builds off of Zotero's built-in RDF support, can't say much more since I'm just digging into this for the first time. Just …

I just started looking at this, and I can't get a single one of the examples at http://bibliontology.com/examples to import with any fidelity.

It sounds to me like adding a Book Review type, mapping to "article" in CSL, will cover most uses. Would it be enough for book reviews published in newspapers? How about, as Bruce has notes, reviews in other media like radio? Obviously we can't cov…
-
Could you propose a set of fields for a Review type and post them here or on the types whiteboard? I'm pushing this because if we do manage to make reasonable proposals in the near future, they _will_ make it into Zotero 2.1, making many people's li…

Bruce -- Can you elaborate on why you think a Book Review type is a better solution than adding Reviewed Title and Reviewed Author to the relevant item types?

Please search in the forums and post in a new or related thread for new issues. There is a FreePatentsOnline translator; if it does not work, please read http://www.zotero.org/support/troubleshooting_translator_issues and report the erors as specifi…

(ajlyon: Best to make sure the translatorID stays the same on translator updates, even when people rewrite them.) Sorry -- I try to check those in the diffs, but apparently I miss them sometimes, especially when they're obscured by whitespace differ…

Please provide an error report for the translator failure (http://www.zotero.org/support/troubleshooting_translator_issues).

I just played for the first time with standalone today-- and this is fun. Thanks for the build script -- it worked pretty much without a hitch for me.

You can follow the Trac timeline: https://www.zotero.org/trac/timeline If Dan pushes the change, it should show up there in some way. The last step of pushing changes is not a transparent process, but we're a small community here, so you can always…

Zotero doesn't use a distributed versioning system, nor does it use highly aggressive branching, so a change like this just happens on the trunk (https://www.zotero.org/trac/changeset/7648). As one of the people who regularly troubleshoots, reviews …
