I think that the basic save webpage function has not yet been implemented for the connectors. The non-translator parts of the connection between Zotero and websites are pretty much absent at this point, but they should be coming into place.

This would explain why I couldn't figure out why searches with the Pubmed translator starting acting up -- I thought my changes had caused this behavior, but maybe something changed in 2.1b3/4. In my experience, however, I can cancel the search dia…

The files you sent me import fine in my testing, albeit with the multilingual experimental version of Zotero. If they don't work for you, submit an error ID and debug output ID (http://www.zotero.org/support/debug_output) for your attempt to import…

1. Right-click on the title to use the very limited transformation options. You should generally use sentence case in Zotero, since styles can force title case if necessary (right?) 2. See https://github.com/ajlyon/zotero-bits/issues#issue/8

No. It would have to be changed in the translator architecture. So implementing an import translator won't let us get the same behavior?
-
Is there a way for translators to coerce Zotero into saving all the items as a single transaction? I don't now what in the sandbox would be of use, apart from Item.complete(..). It would also be pretty easy (very easy!) to make the Pubmed translato…

You shouldn't be getting a syntax error like that-- can you try resetting translators in the Zotero preferences, restarting, and trying again? If it still doesn't work, try disabling other Firefox extensions and importing. If that doesn't fix it, po…

I think that we could improve the performance of the translator by having it save each citation in parallel-- right now the translator saves each item completely (meaning creating indices and whatnot) before moving on to the next item. I'll look int…

The Russian practice is hard to pin down; the most recent standard is GOST/R 7.0.7-2008, and it does not draw a distinction between journals and newspapers as far as this is concerned. The several newspaper citations in that standard do not include …

Yes-- that wouldn't do anything, since the Pubmed translator doesn't even save PDFs. I just tried on my computer and I can't replicate the issue. The translator only makes one request, since it concatenates the PMIDs and requests a file with all th…

I was going to say that this is like actors in films, who can be cited when they are seen as necessary, but they don't have a role anyway. I can continue to use "Contributor" for this, as an actor would get. When we get a way of modeling Agents (pe…

I agree that the "Photo:" part could be the "publisher" field. How about my proposal of adding the new creator role "Subject"? For portraiture (inc. photography), the depicted person is central information that would be good to include in a standar…

Try disabling PDF indexing in the Zotero preferences.
-
Until we come up with clear requirements that set images and other (art)works apart, why not just rename "Artwork" to "Image/Artwork"? It sounds clumsy, but maybe it would do the trick.
-
@Rintze: I thought about the place split-- I suppose the creation and exhibition places are sufficiently parallel to event and publisher to make that work.
-
And that's pretty much where one previous discussion ended up. I don't know where to go on this, but it's a weak/messy part of the model, and we should try to clean it up now.
-
How about adding "subject" as a creator role for artwork? I'm thinking of portraits, mainly photographs, where the person depicted may be the only meaningful information available. "Place" would also be a good addition. For photographs, it will oft…

Zotero doesn't allow for user-defined formats, by design. I would model this as an article type (or book section?). A journal article could represent a post, threads could be journal issues. If discussion is not threaded, this might work. You'd jus…

When I click on a link like yours, I'm automatically redirected to /pss/2095046 or /stable/2095046, depending on whether I have access to JSTOR. Zotero correctly detects saves from both. Not sure why you aren't being redirected.

Mainly, I want to move discussion off of this thread, since it was created before the official alpha began, and it is full of information on packaging and installing from source code that very few people currently running the standalone alpha need. …

quinn_d: Please start a new thread, since this thread isn't about the quirks of translators when used via connectors. In the new thread, please include URLs that work in Firefox, but not in Chrome, so that we can identify what breaks them in Chrome.

Super and subscripts are on their way-- they're understood by the citation engine starting with the 2.1 betas, and they'll somehow make their way into the metadata fields eventually as well, but I wouldn't expect them in 2.1 final. For reading, you…

The packaging for Linux and Windows is currently a problem; it works, but not in the way that users are used to. This alpha release just gets Standalone out the door and on the desktops of eager users. I've filed a ticket for this (https://www.zoter…
-
@Rintze: I'm leaning in favor of supporting Citation Label, but I'd like to see field hiding as well, since it (and the present proposal in general) threaten to really clog up the metadata pane, especially for small-screen users like me.

I think that this discussion has pretty much ended; if anyone has additional proposals that are not reflected on the whiteboard, now would be the time to add them. Otherwise, it's probably time to clean up the present proposals and make a final list…

We need comments on how to handle music scores correctly as we try to make the promised schema changes for Zotero 2.1. Please see http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/15636 and https://github.com/ajlyon/zotero-bits/wiki/Zotero-types-whiteboard We'll…

This appears to have fixed on the trunk, so it should go away in 2.1b5.

This is planned as part of the set of schema changes for, hopefully, Zotero 2.1.
