The idea of a "person" type has been floated and has never received much support from Zotero Central: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/829/ http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/1130/ http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/8561/ I would like to see m…

The easiest approach is to make a Book item for the whole volume, then right-click on it and make a duplicate. Change the type of the duplicate to Book Section, and the data will move appropriately (Title to Book Title). Make the necessary number of…

Sorry-- I just tried to fix the bug, and it's not that easy. The PDF fulltext link brings you to another page, which should have the real URL for the PDF, but I can't get Zotero to save that URL correctly. My suspicion is that Cambridge is checking …
-
Can you give me a URL for Cambridge journals? The one I came up with was something that UCLA didn't have free access to anyway, and I didn't want to pay 25 pounds to diagnose a bug!
-
The problem here is that the Palgrave MacMillan site is not being translated by a "site translator"; Zotero is detecting the DOIs (article identifiers) on the page, then pulling data from the service CrossRef. Unfortunately, Zotero has no way of kno…

I'm glad to hear that this worked for you. I wish that it were a little easier to change these things, but as you found, it's not entirely impossible to modify the translator to move the relatively unstructured Endnote data into the structures of Zo…

And it would be ridiculous for Dan to switch gears and redo everything for Chrome when there are many, many issues with Zotero that still need work.
-
The translators that the "Get Involved" page refers to are site translators; the little bits of code that pull useful metadata from thousands of sites on the internet to make it easy to save items from the web. Site translators (and import/export tr…

And do you see slowness in other applications than STATA when running Word with the add-in concurrently?
-
That sounds rather odd... Can you remove the Word add-in and confirm that the slowness disappears?

You'll find the current RDF support in the RDF.js and Embedded RDF.js files in the translators directory of your Zotero data directory. If you start working on RDFa support or have questions / need advice on how to do so, then zotero-dev is nominall…

You'll want to look in the translators directory of your Zotero data directory. Open the file named "RIS.js"; it handles RIS import and export.

This is a question of collations in Sqlite, and it has been discussed. My understanding is that the newest versions of Sqlite allow user-defined collation functions, so Zotero could, at its option, ignore combining diacritical marks. I run into thi…

Well, once drag-and-drop is fixed under Linux, this may start working for you. Dan seems to know the details, but there was a bug in Firefox that prevented it from working for a time.
-
It seems that the WorldCat translator uses the ContextObject nodes in the page; as we know, ContextObjects (in or outside of spans) don't do multiple authors. As Frank mentioned, we can get the RIS via addresses like: http://www.worldcat.org/oclc/…
-
But do take a look and make sure that WorldCat is showing only the first author. There has also been discussion of switching to LoC for such data, but I don't know how feasible that is.
-
Does it currently work to drag-and-drop the attachment from Zotero to the converter program? I believe such drag-and-drop is planned (and maybe already implemented for some platforms?), and it might do most of what you want.
-
If it turns out there isn't any, then I have to create a NEW item, find* the PDF and drag it onto the new item. There's a plan to have the Retrieve Metadata function automatically attach the PDF to a blank Zotero item when the metadata retrieval fa…

This would probably not be possible for WebDAV file syncing, since it would require special capabilities on the server side. It might be possible for Zotero File Storage, but it would be a difficult task, and I suspect that frequently-edited, very l…

See http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/12514/ and follow the instructions for installing my patched translator. I'll get that pushed to all users sometime soon. Dan: Can you please close this thread? The more recent thread has useful discussion …

Well, it isn't going to be as easy as the CSL editing interface. You can install Scaffold (http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/scaffold), unofficial XPI of the 2.0 version available here: http://www.gimranov.com/research/scaffold.xpi . It will let you…
-
Well, try the updated translator in the other thread. Then, please post URLs of records that don't work-- I believe that it is possible to make almost all records work. For the sake of clarity, post problematic URLs in the other thread, to keep thin…

The translator currently uses the RIS data provided by Wiley, and the RIS importer does not attempt to make such changes to imported data.
-
You can download the Scaffold 2.0 (unofficial alpha) XPI from http://www.gimranov.com/research/scaffold.xpi .

If the ` character is really not valid, then it should be excluded. Other symbols should probably be left for now-- if they are shown to cause trouble, then they can be removed in subsequent patches.

I was thrown off by this myself yesterday-- it does sometimes happen that one would like to add an entry for a webpage that is not currently open, but the potential for confusion is real enough that I think I agree with the decision to not include i…

See https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Fennec/Extensions for basic infomation-- you'll need to set compatibility in install.rdf as described there. A list of useful links is at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/mobile/developers/ .
-
My guess is that the Zotero folks haven't been able to test the patch personally, perhaps because they don't have Word 2010... In any case, you're absolutely correct that a version for the 64-bit version of Word 2010 should be distributed. @cfp and…

You may have to override extension compatibility to get Zotero to install in Mobile Firefox. Dan's right-- you're treading new waters here. Please do describe how things work and what issues arise, but as far as I know, no one has ever run Zotero un…
