@adamsmith thanks Adam, it is the defaults.list file.
-
@adamsmith thanks a lot for that, Adam. Could you tell me if this should go into the mimeapps.list file or into the defailts.list file, both of which reside in ~/.local/share/applications/defaults.list ?
-
@adamsmith No I did not because he clearly stated that those concern PDFs, and my issue is with the browser, i.e. URLs. Nevertheless, I took a look and maybe in the suggested file ~/.local/share/applications/defaults.list the following line would n…

@poettli: on my Mint Zotero used to do that too, until I changed the default browser. So, somehow Zotero does not follow the change.
-
@dstillermann: thanks for you reply. I have a problem with the URLs, and yes, I have even shurtdown and fired up the computer since changing the deafult browser. So, when you say "Zotero just launches the URL via the OS" I assume you mean using the…

@fbennett unfortunately that did not work. As soon as I set Zotfile to extract the annotations from the secondary PDF file, the rectangular Zotfile pop-up in the bottom right corner showed the name of the file with a red cross before it, nothing at …

What I think I may have done is to do the test annotations in Foxit Reader. Then, when I went on to annotate my 140 page PDF, I used Okular. @adamsmith can you tell me what the Zotfile support status for these 2 programs is?

Firefox 66.0.1 Zotero 5.0.65 Standalone zotfile-5.0.9-fx.xpi System: Linux Mint 19.1 XFCE 64-bit Issue: Okular highlights in PDF are not extracted I recently installed Zotfile, after which I tested it with a PDF file that had a few highlights. The …

@fbennett thanks for clearing that up.
-
@DWL-SDCA thanks for your reply. So, if the highlight colour is irrelevant, how come Zotero is not extracting, as I described in the beginning? @adamsmith makes a point of the software used. Now, I am not a Zotero expert, but it seems strange that Z…
-
@adamsmith so if I understand well Zotero is not able to extract certain highlights. Would it help if those highlights were in green instead of yellow?
-
@adamsmith well, using your rule of thumb Zotfile should be able to extract them because the highlights are in bright yellow.
-
@adamsmith: what makes you so sure it is definitely not a Zotero problem? As for the annotation software, I think it was the same, but am not 100% sure. I only use highlights. If I understand you well, though, Zotero/Zotfile can only handle annotati…

Is there a maximum that Zotero can handle?
-
@adamsmith The .14 is just an example. As I scroll through the document with the extract there are higher numbers like .16, .17, .19, etc. I just discovered that they are clickable indeed, but not in a conventional way. If you click on a link you ge…

@adamsmith Many thanks for your help, Adam. Yes that works. I tested it by creating a parent item, then extract the highlights. Each highlight is followed by a number in blue between brackets, e.g. (.14). And at the top of the extracted document th…

@poettli Thanks, you're a star. I had not seen that mouse hover message. That text should be incorporated into the instructions because like that it is not clear at all. @adamsmith Yes, that's right. I don't want to build anything myself :-) I do …

@poettli thanks for your reply. I am fully aware how to add an .xpi file to Zotero. My question is for help on downloading the zotfile.xpi - please read my post carefully. I would like to download the file, and not have to jump through hoops to cre…
