Thanks Dan. Trying to restore my old data directory now... I've searched the "Old Firefox Data" folder, but there is no sign of a file named "zotero" there. Do you know where I might find it?

OK, thanks. That's peculiar to hear that I have no files on the server, as I can see them in the web-based zotero. No, I haven't used a WebDAV server. How can I place them on the server if they are not there?

Thanks again. I think it's sorted now. I've found that the 'zotero' data directory was already in its expected location - so no progress there. So I removed my zotero extension, tried syncing again, and hey presto, all my library entries…

Good news - got it back now! I had 'status bar icon' set to 'Zotero', but for some reason it still wasn't showing in my status bar. I just tried changing it to 'Z', and that's showing up now, and the link is working. Thanks for your help.

Just following these instructions.... it says "in the General tab of the preferences, check that the Zotero icon is set to appear". There is no option for this in the General tab. Can I do this another way?
