I was certain that was not the case, but now it appears so. Issue resolved. I am not sure if it would be preferable to move to top after sync or not - some users might prefer to stay where they are looking. Thank you.

That's not the filename you are looking at. That's the attachment title. The filename is in the item pane on the right side when you click on the attachment entry in the center pane. https://www.zotero.org/support/file_renaming#attachment_title_vs_…

I should be saving all of my titles in sentence case then? Yes. The logic behind the title/sentence case conversions are here: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/sentence_casing
-
Well, yes, you'd be using linked files, https://www.zotero.org/support/attaching_files but this would cause loss of Zotero attachment syncing. You can recover some of this by syncing the new linked attachment folder by some other means, but not c…

For what is worth, I will second a more prominent (and full) display of the filename in the Item Pane. I like the idea of the filename being only in the Item Pane, but currently it is almost always cutoff, extension is almost never seen, and the sm…

Zotero does not write its annotations to the pdf file, but saves them in its database. You can see them in the desktop app if you open the file in Zotero, not an external pdf reader. This is explained here: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/annota…

Sounds like this: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/116980/zotero-7-0-1-center-right-panes-stop-displaying-items Which was fixed in the latest beta and release versions. Did you update? Running 7.0.2?

You don't want to import into Zotero for this; you add items. Importing means something else in Zotero and adding the default way is a lot easier. As dstillman mentioned, you use the Zotero's browser connectors as explained here: https://www.zotero…

This could be related, but I have been getting crashes with recent beta and releases as I restart Zotero on latest Sonoma with a crash report that looks similar to the one above. I have been able to reproduce it when I do both: 1. Have BBT plugin e…

CSL styles are created by a small number of volunteers, and will still take a lot of time because of that. If the requested information is not provided, it won't be created. Which has been the case for this journal/style. https://forums.zotero.org…

A useful list of shortcuts are here, but it is incomplete and not fully up-to-date: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/keyboard_shortcuts

There is, and I use it a lot. The PDF reader has Back and Forward functions with shortcut keys. Cmd + [ for Go Back, Cmd + ] for Go Forward on Macs. Replace Cmd with Ctrl on Windows or Linux, I presume. You can also see them in the Go pull down me…

In Zotero 7, you can pin sections. Right click on the Citation Key section to see the pin option. This may help.

Indeed, disabling "Enable bidirectional text editing utilities" fixes the issue. Thank you.

I have a second computer running MacOS 10.14.6 on an Intel chip, which does not have this problem. Which allows me to empty the Trash there, sync up and resolve the issue on the computer running MacOS 14.6.1 on an M1/ARM, after restarting Zotero. …

At some point, Zotero 6 will break and will become unsafe to use. It already fails at some functionality only Zotero 7 can do (like displaying Elsevier Captcha pages for downloading some research articles). But you can do it. I believe the databas…

Those are not folders, and don't work as such. They are collections. Any item (with its file attachments) can be added to zero, one or many subcollections. So, deleting items will delete them everywhere. If you want to remove an item from only one …

Just having gone through the new strings for localizing Zotero 7. Thank you for the new descriptive variables. They really helped and it was very much appreciated.

Read the link pasted above by adamsmith. That's the title for the attachment, which is a description of what the file is: "PDF" for example. The filename you are looking for is on the right-side pane, which is often just a repeat of author name - Y…

I might not have understood your description, but that second image does not have a bibliographic item. It is just a standalone file you have added in zotero. You need to "Create a Parent Item" for that pdf file and fill in the bibliographic data. …

BBT is compatible with Zotero 7 beta. The current version is 6.7.217. Re-install BBT from scratch. I remember that some of the old versions were not automatically updating, and you may be stuck with a very old, dysfunctional version.

This is odd. The user who overwrote the glossary is apparently a new user who started making edits only in the last month in the Turkish translation... As someone who has been working on the Transifex translations for a long time, I found the Gloss…

This renders fine in Zotero 7 beta. The update to Zotero 7 also updates the pdf viewer: https://www.zotero.org/support/beta_builds The common disclaimers about using beta software should go here.

Items can exist in multiple collections. i.e. Collections are not folders. Many, if not, most items I have in my library exist in multiple (sub)collections. How do you choose which collection to show then? My understanding for using Zotero is that,…

Can you link to where it mentions that? I don't see it in the instructions. Recently published pdf's still appear to have 1-3. I believe the volunteers that create the styles prefer the published pdf format rather than what might exist in the html,…

As a user since 2008, I will chime in to make the point that this critique to the current scheme is not universal among the userbase: if dealing with multiple attachments for one parent item but as this is such a rare case This is not rare. In my …

I don't even think it's in PubMed, but I could be wrong there. I was surprised to see that they are there. All my papers since 2020, and some going back to 2017, have them when I search the webpage with orcid[auid]. (The missing ones might be those …

Guessing blindly here... You probably only have pdfs/attachment files in your library, and you actually did not create any items with metadata. Try right-clicking on them and selecting Create Parent Item first. You may have to manually enter metadat…
