• Thanks for all your feedback and suggestions. What I ended up doing was to set the "Proceedings Title" field to a manually abbreviated name (I did this by hand, using the find tool). I left the "Conference Name" field as-is. I get a lot of my items…

• I've also tried a Science Direct Article, which worked and downloaded the PDF as well. So the issue appears limited to either the IEEE's website or the IEEE Xplore translator.
