Thanks for the response and informative links. From the forum link, it appears that the developers are (or were as of Jan 2022) working on this kind of functionality, so hopefully we can get an update on that.

PS. I found an optimization that has made a world of difference: reveal pdfs in a group of items, select all of the pdfs within them and drag them out of the parent all at once. That helps enormously, so maybe I don't need anything more, but still …

Just ran into the same behavior. Thank you for the solution! (I was unaware of any force-touch feedback causing the folder to open. Nonetheless disabling force touch DID eliminate the problem in my case.)
