Perfect. Thanks. Most of my suggestions have to do with the interface (on a Mac). I suspect that many of them have to do with the dev environment and aren't fixable, but I'll post some anyway.

WorldCat clearly exports books that are proceedings as CONF. For example, the link adamsmith cited above. WorldCat, as I said at the start, is not a great RIS exporter, so I wouldn't want to put much faith in that. Again, I think the RIS standa…

I'd say yes, but that's also often the kind of thing that ends up in a long title, like the one you cited above. See, for example, this guide: http://libguides.reynolds.edu/content.php?pid=143373&sid=1220383
-
Yes, I think they are cited as a whole, but most often pieces are cited. Isn't that typical for collections of short works that appear as books? And no, I don't think they're different from regular book citations, as long as the book in question has…

Nolo contendere. :-) I think we're beginning to spend time over a inadequately explained standard no one here is responsible for. I appreciate the attention and the change to the translator.
-
In my field (Classics) it is very common to find conference proceedings published as books. I don't mind turning WorldCat's CONF into BOOK (that's what I've done in Zotero), but the reality is that proceedings have fields that books don't, like…
-
I understand your logic, but I think this is more a gap in the RIS spec, than that CONF is intended for single papers. For example, CONF has fields like "Number of volumes", "Edition", and "ISBN" that would seem to belong to a book-like thing, …
-
I'm suggesting that Zotero interpret the RIS fields according to the spec (which I think I'm reading correctly). There CONF = Conference Proceedings and CPAPER = Conference Paper. So having Zotero do CONF = Conference Paper is wrong (again, if …
-
My own preference would be that Zotero follow the spec and the other sites be encouraged to as well. WorldCat's RIS files are just a mess (as is noted elsewhere in these fora), and it's nice that Zotero's scraper does a better job.
-
(Figured I'd return to this one) So how does one push for a particular site translator, in this case IHE...obviously. It's one I use a lot.
-
I'm all for options. Just a little prefs checkbox would make me happy. :-)
-
Hmmm, yes, I hadn't noticed that. So the request is, I guess, that the label set automatically to the same thing it becomes upon executing the renaming option, or at least that there's an option to do that. (Seems odd to me that this isn't done auto…

Yes, but it stayed tripped up. :-)

Yes, but it just worked now after re-starting Zotero. How 'bout that. I wonder if I somehow goofed it up because I tried it first with the whole URL instead of just this part.
-
I actually have my Zotero files in my main Documents path, so they are indexed already and show up in Spotlight searches. Can't you just do a mdimport /path-to-your-files/Zotero\ data/ ? This will get the files, but not the zoter…

Have to say that I agree about this import issue. Why not a pref for "Import RIS into new collection"? For me it's often easier just to export to RIS and then drag and top that file onto Zotero standalone. If it weren't for the new collection, …

I did mean CSL syntax, yes. 3. I meant that there are no commas between, for example, "Keay" and "S. Moser" and see (b) below. A few more things, now that I've cleaned up my Zotero entries: a) A legitimate book entry with an editor, m…

Bump.

1. Is Zotero actually language-sensitive? That is, does it apply different sets of rules? (Just a question) 2. Good point. That's an import from an old biblio I had made. Note that if page numbers are missing the entry just ends without a final…

1. You know I tried that! But with three-letter codes, which is what I usually use. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ISO_639-1_codes 2. You can try this one out of my library: https://www.zotero.org/john_muccigrosso/items/collection…

Two problems with the current version in the bibliography section: 1. text-case="title” doesn’t seem to account for foreign languages. For example "Und" is getting capitalized in the middle of German titles. 2. The names of editors after a…

The standalone really doesn't stand alone if it's looking at Firefox for settings.
-
This would suggest that the standalone really doesn't.
-
Yes. "works as expected" isn't a great answer here. Why should Zotero care whether I'm on line or not? The problems are obvious.
-
Thanks. So: 1. This is a bug in Zotero, right? 2. No way to implement this "work off-line" thing from within Zotero? (FF is not my default browser.)
-
Just had this problem this morning with an up-to-date MAcBook Pro installation using NeoOffice. Lion and Zotero at the latest versions. Worked fine once I was in the office and on-line. Where do I check the off-line mode?
-
Works for me. Thanks!
-
Not on my system. It left it where it was. This was after attaching the file with Zotfile, to be clear.
-
Ah, it actually does do what I want, though it explicitly says that it "stores a copy of the file in Zotero" which sounds exactly like what Zotero does, and I don't want. Should really read "Moves, renames and attaches..." (A related quest…

That seems to use a different file storage system entirely, and not have the option of defaulting to Zotero's built-in system, in contrast for what it does for renaming. For better or worse, I decided to let Zotero organize files. :-)
