Thanks. The cheat does work, though it's disappointing this didn't get picked up in the new version.

Sorry to add to an old thread, but did this addition of editors to webpages make it into v. 5? I don't find anything on the changelog at https://www.zotero.org/support/changelog.

A bit of a related question, I think: is it possible to find related items directly? That is, is there an easy way to perform a find that results in only related items showing up in the middle pane? I can of course click on the "Related" tab, but th…

Well that’s not nice of Google. I suppose zotero is playing nice when it makes the request. And yes, the security restrictions block the bookmarklet, which I don’t really have a problem with, though it obviously gets in the way here. I’m not sure …

Yeah, I’ve got a workaround workflow now, but I was hoping there would be a way to do something with the bibtex or ris that the site generates for a single citation. So I could maybe pass zotero a link to the webpage that is just the bibtex and it w…

OK, thanks.

I’m not so sure about that. I ended up doing a website import, then editing the entry, which is what I would have done if the standalone had done the adding. I just had to to the website to do it. More steps.
-
So it’s not possible to simply imitate the website behavior in the standalone?

Thanks. (I do know about the save-to-Zotero function.) Can I therefore make this a feature request, that the Add by Identifier recognize text that has the hdl.handle.net in it? Or that it just add handle.net to the source it checks identifiers agai…

It doesn't seem like this info ever made it to the About page.
-
About to use zotero with a class, so would love for this to be working. :-)
-
A follow-up on this as I just noticed that JSTOR presents what I would call Zotero tags as "topics". They're in a variable "contentData" as json inside a script on each page. A simple `jq .topics[]` on that var grabs them as quoted text. This is be…

Excellent! Thanks.

Thanks. As I said I find the two tools complementary. I can just modify the annotation markup so that there are no underlines in the output. And maybe I’ll see about getting zotfile to change its settings to reflect the support reality you mention.
-
On a related note, I'm finding that the poppler extraction treats what I think are highlights as underlined and so all the extracts are underlined in the note. Process: edit a PDF with Adobe Reader (Mac), Preview.app, and - on my iPad - PDF Viewer.…

Thanks for checking. I find Services very reliable, but I don’t use Firefox except for Zotero-related things, so doing a lot of work to check how services work in it isn’t easy for me. I will say that its inability to work like other Mac apps is par…

Apparently FireFox itself doesn't support contextual-menu Services. See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=660452 which likely explains why Zotero doesn't. However Zotero often shows a limited Service menu under the app menu (/Zotero/Serv…

I feel like this is escalating into something. I’m reporting a bug here. I use zotero and promote it all the time with my students and colleagues. Not looking for a fight. I’m confused about the request regarding Firefox. I thought it originally r…

I get that. My point was that I don’t have Zotero installed on Firefox, just the connector add-on.
-
I’m talking about the standalone. I don't use FireFox with Zotero except to add entries via the add-on. As I said, **none** of the services are available if I right-click on text in a Zotero entry, which is one problem. A specific one I use a lot t…

Works fine with FireFox, so maybe it's Safari. Firefox downloads the PDF instead of opening it in a browser window as Safari does, but it also shows the dropdown in the original window.
-
Many. Try this one: http://www.jstor.org/stable/297312 It seems to happen when I first download a PDF and so agree to the terms. Then I close the PDF that opens and the "handy" dropdown appears on the original page telling me that the PDF has been …

This is of interest to me as well. I use tags and smart searches to create local groups, so being able to export these groups automatically via BBT is very useful. EDIT: clarified that it's the auto-export I'm talking about.
-
Thanks, @bwiernik! I've been waiting to upgrade.
-
So all is well with Zotero 5 and Better BibTeX?
-
Well, I want to make sure they're using their libraries, and doing it right, so the best thing for me (I think) is to actually look at their libraries.

I'm a bit confused about how the PDF annotation extraction is supposed to work. Mostly I've been using it lately on copies of articles I've scanned myself and OCRed with tesseract. 1. Changing the Skim pref to true doesn't seem to do anything diffe…

I'm having some trouble getting Zotfile to rename my files. I created a user wildcard set which is valid JSON, and the preview in the Zotfile prefs window works just fine. However when I use the context menu to rename the attachment, nothing happens…

Adding: when I run FireFox after I edit its translator, the site is correctly identified. I should add that I just realized that the standalone and Firefox use different folders to store their translators, so FireFox wasn't seeing the changes I was…

Any Chronicle article will do. Here's one of the translator examples: http://www.chronicle.com/article/A-Little-Advice-From-32000/46210/
