the URL bar icon works, though it defaults to citation type = "journal article." using the URL bar is definitely easier here--thanks for pointing it out! oxford online definitely thinks that they're exporting an RIS file, though: "Export citat…

ok intrepid hackers, is there any way to make this work for me [i initiated this post!]? would i, like, find the file mentioned above and go in there and make some sort of a change to my individual version of zotero on my computer? i find that prosp…

I should clarify that the window is wide enough to see the titles of items. the resize is necessary when there are multiple authors who have the same last name (a situation whose likelihood increases with the size of the collection).

i need to do that, too. can anyone suggest a sensible work around? could you just group your citations in two collections and generate two bibliographies in one doc--or is that what carnaveira is saying--that you can only map one collecti…

There are no choices down there? It just wants an ackowledgment?

you guys are superheroes.

what is meant here by the zotero "pane" versus the zotero "tab", please?

ok. here's a screencast in two episodes (don't worry--they're short). http://www.4shared.com/video/Bp4YouW7/zotero_tab_glitch.html http://www.4shared.com/video/ibRb6a0g/zotero_tab_glitch_part2.html let me know if this doesn't work for so…

@ ajlyon, in ff i got to tools->Add-ons->extensions and i see only three items (python ext, zotero, zotero Macword integration). if i got to 'themes' there is nothing i can select or disable. i'm not sure about 'personas' --i haven't added any…

Mac: ff 3.6.14/Zotero 2.1b7 Win: ff 3.6.13/Zotero 2.1b6 i don't have any themes or extensions that are not zotero related on either machine... as far as i can tell, zotero is operating "properly." the "clunkiness" i'm reporting is not, i…

yeah. it's weird. i have a mac and a windows machine and i get similar wonky results with both. i just tried to reproduce the behavior outlined above and was able to on both machines. the weird thing is that it's not consistent. try these two scenar…

@Dan, thanks for the clarity. If I read you right: the problem I am having is unique and specific to my situation, but at the same time is recognizable as an example of a class of problems that you guys call "Broken Documents." The way to fix …

[fbennet hooked me up with a "flattened" version of my file that has the _text_ of the citations, at least (they're no longer connected to zotero, but at least i have the data...)] so...any suggestions about where to go from here? i mean, was …

I've watched pretty carefully each time I try to change the citation style. It appears that Zotero makes an initial "pass" through the document during which it places "0/0/0 00:00AM" everywhere that it plans to put a citation. In my case, it never m…

"Modern Humanities Research Association (without Bibliography)" is the really problematic one... Also, I tried downgrading zotero but no dice. I've watched pretty carefully each time I try to change the citation style. It appears that Zote…

@Dan, i gotchu. i just couldn't face everything crashing again and again and again as i tried to narrow it down...
-
ok. i've been playing around with trying to change citation styles using the zotero document preferences in word. when i try to change to "MLA" it gets halfway through the document and then stops, telling me that a particular citation (the same…

frank, everything seems to work great in a fresh document. it is only the dissertation chapter that is due _tomorrow_ and that i need to be working on(!) that causes the problems. thanks.
-
ugh. i got all the way through this 'til i tried to find the problematic citation. as i've posted elsewhere on this site, zotero causes word to crash [i know that this is "impossible," but...]. this means that between firefox crashing and word crash…

yeah. it definitely hangs when i open 'document preferences' in the zotero word plugin. the weird thing seems to be that _other_ word documents (like, for example, new ones that i create to test this) don't make firefox hang. BTW i reverted ba…
-
i can't test it, 'cause any attempt to add a citation in word causes firefox to hang. word puts a {citation} field marker in the text and then thinks its finished with the process. none of the zotero dialogs open. crap. i'm thinking of trying to dow…

thanks for your reply. however, i tried (and _had_ tried) just letting the script run (as the page you directed me to says), but that just seemed to go on forever--firefox stayed hung and the citations were never added to my document. now it's …

yay!

great. found it! thanks! now, could someone please tell me what actual keys those crazy keystroke shortcuts refer to?! those symbols don't appear anywhere on my mac keyboard! i've asked, like, 10 other mac users and no one recognizes them...
-
oops. i'm an idiot. i've just figure out how to navigate my zotero window--i had somehow ended up in some empty folder and each time i opened zotero i was still in said empty folder so it looked like i had an empty library. sorry--newbie!

{You're overthinking this. It's just a delete you made on your computer being propagated from your computer to the server when you sync.} @Dan: i'm having this problem, too. I have two laptops that i move between regularly, and i keep losing re…

@ajlyon: great work! thanks! my notes are importing with line breaks and various characters intact!

quick refinement (am i really the only person having the problem outlined above?): MacWord doesn't crash until I try to use firefox again after importing a zotero citation into my document. everthing is fine until i call firefox up from the dock or …
