Is it possible to create a new "short name" field (perhaps using the "extra" field), and then program the citation style to just use the short name if it's available (and otherwise ignore it and use the full name)?
-
I'm using Chicago style.

What's the current status on the Safari extension? I've held off on upgrading to Safari 13 specifically because I need the Zotero connector.
-
Amazing! I might finally be able to upgrade...
-
@dstillman @mschwarze Likewise, the support for Zotero has been great. Thank you for your hard work! With that said, now that macOS Catalina is out do we have any updates? Is there anything that we can do (e.g. beta testing) to help?

> Nothing new here. Version number notwithstanding, the legacy extension removal will almost certainly be part of Safari 13 in September @dstillman, I was redirected here when I posted in another thread about Safari 13. You said above that the p…

No

How would I have manually hid it?
-
I just checked and it’s also missing for me.
-
@dstillman, I really recommend you rethink your policy of just not updating the extension and saying, "Use another browser." On the Mac, Safari is really the only usable browser. Chrome just destroys laptop batteries.
-
@itayhad I just tried this on the mac and it doesn't do anything at all.
-
+1 -- I would also love this feature!

Thanks. I’m using Chicago 17. I would like the citations to look like: Last, first. “Article name.” In book title, 100-120. Ed. Editor name. location: press, yyyy. Originally in journal vol (yyyy): 100-120. (Or something like that - typing citati…

Thanks. Is it possible to have a way to link references, so that one could list each article part separately (and thus could be individually cited in text / in a footnote) but then in the bibliography they are all listed together, since they are par…

@bwiernik I'm using Chicago 17th, and here is an example citation, which happens to be for a magazine article. ———. “Article Title.” 5 pts. Journal Title, 12 June 1928, 588–589; 2 Jul. 1928, 596; 16 Aug. 1928, 606; 30 Oct. 1928, 614; 14 Nov. 1928, …

It's been a while since this was posted, but are there any plans to integrate Zotero with Spotlight? It would be amazing if I could search for items in macOS spotlight search and opening them would take me straight to Zotero.
-
So you're updating the main springer style?
-
Great. By the way I posted my modified style at https://github.com/jalustig/citation-styles/blob/master/archival-science-basic.csl
-
Thanks, I was actually doing that but it appears that the “location” field wasn’t being used in this style at all, when it should have been. I ended up modifying the style code to include the page numbers as needed.

You’re moving to electron!?! I’m curious - what benefits does that give over Firefox as a cross platform environment?
-
You *can* link files, but it's not done by default. It would be great if there was an option of what should be the default, so you could set it to copy files (as is currently the default) or to link to the existing PDF by default (which I'm sure ma…

Just tossing in my two cents: this would be great.

> Any reason why you wouldn't just install & use Chrome, Chromium, or Firefox I prefer to use safari because it is less battery intensive on my mac & also it automatically syncs passwords with all of my devices. Chrome is a resource hog.

PyZotero looks promising, from what I can tell it modifies a Zotero database via the web API which syncs with your local computer, right? It doesn’t modify the local store directly?
-
I created a command line script to do some of this: https://github.com/jalustig/zotero It takes Zotero information and puts it into macOS file tags. If it were possible to programmatically manipulate the tags of zotero citation items then it would …
-
Yeah, I've seen that I can run it on more than one item. It's too bad that I can't create a keyboard shortcut though.

Aha, I see what you're saying. This is fantastic, if I set Zotfile to save files for instance in ~/Research Library/ with a subfolder defined by %c that will use the categorization in Zotero to sort the PDF files. However, running "rename attachmen…

Hi Adam, thanks for responding. I've experimented with Zotfile and it does rename files, but it still seems to store them in the "Storage" folder (i.e. not organized). As for tags - I understand that's not necessarily a frequently requested feature…
