We'll fix that — thanks.

1) Does Zotero crash completely? 2) Not possible to provide a Debug ID? 3) Have you tried to disable extensions? 4) Are there cases when you can successfully copy annotations with images and that doesn't crash Zotero?
-
Is that only for scanned PDF files?
-
I guess we can increase the limit. The input field only allows 16 characters currently.
-
Does that happen only with scanned or with all PDF files?
-
Have you tried to disable extensions?
-
Yes, this is by design. It behaves the same way as dragging a note annotation into Zotero note — you can't go back to the note annotation.
-
@shlnlna Does it work better if you open the same PDF file with PDF.js viewer?
-
Which operating system do you use?
-
We'll fix this — thanks.

You can send one of the chapters to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread. We'll try to improve that in the future versions of Zotero. Are you using Zotero client or iOS app?
-
This should be fixed in Zotero 7.
-
At the moment it's not possible. Why do you want to do that?
-
We'll try to fix that. Thanks for reporting.
-
Which popup do you have in mind? Can you make a screenshot?
-
The second view currently doesn't support many features and is read-only. But we're working to improve this.
-
@davbauman And if you open those PDF files with another PDF viewer, they are fine? If so please send an example PDF to support@zotero.org also including a link to this thread.
-
Usually this happens when a scanned image has too large resolution or some non-standard stuff. Zotero 7 should improve on that. If you have Firefox, you can try to open the file with its built-in PDF reader and test if the problem remains (Zotero P…

@alexander.winkler That will be fixed in future Zotero versions.

[JavaScript Error: "Win error 8 during operation allocate on file … (Not enough memory resources are available to process this command. 1) How big is the file? 2) How much memory your computer has? Also try to disable plugins and restart Zotero.
-
Ok, I can reproduce the issue on Windows 11. I guess the PDF file doesn't have fonts embedded, and falling back to default fonts fails on the current Zotero version. Most likely this will be fixed in Zotero 7.
-
1) Which PDF specifically has the issue? I tried a few of them and they don't seem to have the encoding issue. 2) Which operating system do you use?
-
If text is not aligned to horizontal or vertical axis, it can't be selected or highlighted in Zotero PDF reader. OCRing software takes care of this normally.
-
@LiuZR Can you provide a Debug ID for the time interval where you create a note and paste those Chinese characters?
-
I can't reproduce it so far. Does the same problem appear in library tab?
-
1) Can you see all pages if you drop your PDF file into PDF.js online viewer? 2) How big is the file?
-
@LiuZR It seems the screenshot link expired before I had an opportunity to see it. Can you upload it again?
-
We'll fix that — thanks.
-
This should get better in Zotero 7. We'll also try to optimize mass image annotation rendering.
-
@JorgePLK Image annotation rendering happens automatically when you modify or create image annotations. The images are cached in Zotero data directory. And no, there is no way to configure image resolution (it can't be too low because it would look …
