Thanks for the recordings. Could you also check what PDF.js logs into Tools → Developer → Error Console?
-
It's fixed in the latest beta.
-
It takes for me about 1 second to completely to load the document (10.1007/s00348-023-03759-9) with text layer. Therefore I can't reproduce the issue so far. Can you test on Linux or macOS as well?
-
But aside from text selection, the overall page loading is the same or slower compared to PDF.js in Firefox? Especially if you scroll quickly through many pages?
-
I can't reproduce that (on macOS). Does it still happen in the latest beta? If so does it happen with the original PDF.js version https://mozilla.github.io/pdf.js/web/viewer.html ?
-
Please send the example PDF file to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread.
-
Oh, if the first case is from the index, it will be fixed as well.
-
The first case can't be fixed, but the second one will be fixed.
-
All right, I can reproduce it.
-
Yes, it uses the latest PDF.js.
-
Instead of the previous clunky popup, it will show a regular hover (title) popup like in a browser. It should be available in an update in the upcoming days.
-
@physicslog Could you send the PDF file to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread?
-
@mjthoraval The main issue should be fixed in the next update. In future we'll also try to do a few tricks to improve the hyphenated words issue.
-
The new automatic extraction of references is confusing the affiliations superscripts as references: We'll improve on that. Another example where it extracts all the self-citations of the co-authors: That is expected behavior. There is no way we can…
-
We'll fix this — thanks.
-
@RamonMi Hand tool isn't new. We'll fix the selection issue.
-
In future versions the number of incorrect links will be significantly reduced. Thanks for reporting.
-
Thanks. It seems this is most likely to happen with OCRed PDF files. We'll do some changes in the next beta.
-
Please send the PDF file to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread.
-
@samvimes Please let us know if there are any improvements in the latest beta.
-
Could you send your slowest PDF file?
-
What do you mean by saying that a color wasn’t set? Was it a PDF issue? If so, please send an example PDF file to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread.
-
It will be fixed in the next update. Thanks for reporting.
-
It seems this stopped working at some point. We'll investigate. Thanks for reporting.
-
1) Does it happen with all PDF files? 2) Have you tried disabling third-party plugins, if you have any? 3) Which Zotero version are you using?
-
Please send an example PDF file to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread. Also, which operating system are you using?
-
Does this happen with only some PDF files? If so, please send an example PDF file to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread.

That’s because clicking an annotation on a PDF page focuses the annotation in the sidebar, and the focus stays there even after the annotation is deleted. We’ll see what we can do here. Thanks for reporting.
-
No, our PDF.js build isn’t affected at all because our reader doesn’t support executing JavaScript in PDF files. https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js/security/advisories/GHSA-wgrm-67xf-hhpq

We have a custom text selection layer and it's difficult to avoid text selection and scrolling interference. But we'll see what we can do here.
