So the issue will be fixed with the release of Zotero 8, correct? Right, as long as you don't delete the original annotation from the PDF file.
-
Thanks for the file. I see the corrupted characters when trying to import it or view it in other PDF viewers. However, I still can't reproduce the issue when I paste the character sequence you provided. Can you tell me more about how you're enterin…

This is by design. However, the closest workaround is to use ink annotations to mark specific lines, and this way you'll get a screenshot with the lines marked. Ink annotations can also be merged, if they end up in different groups.

All of this is planned, and you are right about its importance. We'll do it.

I can reproduce this behavior in Zotero 7.0.30, but Zotero 8 beta works as expected — links correctly select the annotation. Also, why not paste without holding Shift? That will insert an active highlight and give you the fade effect when you navig…

1. Which version of Zotero are you using? 2. What exactly do you mean by "annotation link" — are you clicking on the highlight or on the in-text citation? 3. Does it still scroll to the correct page, just not highlight? 4. Does the issue occur with …

Can you send us an example PDF file that has this issue?
-
Can you also provide a Debug ID for it happening?
-
Weird. I still can't reproduce the issue. Works perfectly fine on Zotero 7.0.30 and macOS 26.1.
-
@Amalie1003 You may also want to switch to the 64-bit version of Zotero, since you're currently using the 32-bit build, which limits how much memory Zotero can access.
-
So far, I can't reproduce the issue. I'm able to export and re-import annotations with Unicode dingbats in comments without any problems. 1. Which specific Unicode dingbats are causing the issue? 2. Which Zotero version are you using? Also, could …

You can upload it to Google Drive, Dropbox, or a similar service and send us the link.

There isn't any setting for this, but normally you shouldn't have any problems with just a hundred pages. Could you send one of those slow PDF files to support@zotero.org, including a link to this thread?
-
1) How many pages does the PDF file have? 2) Does it happen with other PDF files? 3) Which Zotero version?
-
I think this issue should already be fixed in Zotero Beta.
-
The issue will be fixed in the next Zotero Beta update.

Can you reproduce this issue in the Firefox PDF reader (since the Zotero reader is based on it)?
-
I can't reproduce that issue, but it might be related to system fonts. You could try using Zotero Beta to see if the problem persists.
-
How large are those PDF files, and how many pages do they have? Could you upload one of them somewhere and send a link to support@zotero.org together with a link to this thread?

@ygz0515 There is a chance this issue has been fixed in Zotero Beta. Could you verify and confirm?
-
Zotero Beta should be faster at this, if you aren't using it yet.
-
You can increase the font size in the Zotero UI via View → Font Size → Bigger. However, the text box shown in the screenshot is from a plugin, so you'll need to contact the plugin's developer if you're experiencing issues.

Do you mean Zotero itself crashes and quits completely?
-
Can you provide a Debug ID for it happening?

@poettli Do you see that in 8.0-beta.16?

@pjm56z There's no standard way to add tags to PDF annotations. However, we add a custom field /Zotero:Tags to annotations. If you have development-related questions, please post them in the zotero-dev group.
