Setting default view settings for the Zotero Reader is planned.

You can try setting Settings → Advanced → Config Editor → layers.acceleration.disabled value to true, which disables graphical acceleration. However, this may result in lower performance.

Currently, there’s no way to do that, but there’s a new keyboard shortcut, Ctrl+Option/Alt+3, that adds a note annotation at the center of the page.

Can you reproduce this in Troubleshooting Mode (Help → "Restart in Troubleshooting Mode…”), which temporarily disables all plugins?

As stated in the error message, you need to shorten the creator name, as it contains random text instead of the author's name.

@miguelclaramunt For some PDF files, Zotero 7 already excludes header and footer from text selection when selecting body text. This will gradually improve in future updates.

@mdugganmrcvs But again, have you tried with all third-party plugins disabled? Extremely high memory usage is often related to plugin issues.

@mdugganmrcvs Also the high number of annotations could potentially impact performance. How many annotations do you have in that file? Would it be possible to export the PDF with all annotations and share it with us?
