Yea, that is indeed what I see. So I guess the problem is not with the exporting. Guess I'll have to figure out a way to determine where the problem actually is.
-
Doing that, it displays incorrectly in Firefox also with encoding set to Unicode (UTF-8) (and everything else I tried). So the only place it apparently does display correctly is in the Info pane of Zotero. Maybe I need to go into Windows…

Hmm.. Unicode issues are always the most confusing. I'm opening the file correctly, maybe it's a font issue? If that's the case though, then I'm not sure why it would display correctly in Zotero itself. Here's what I get when opening the exp…

Just to add one more slightly unrelated but related-enough-to-not-start-a-new-topic, When I click the Add Item by Identifier magic wand, the window opens on the primary monitor. Is it possible to have it open on whichever monitor Firefox is on? It…

Thanks! That's a good workaround for now until multi-mode quick search is implemented.
-
Ahh, yea I suppose that makes sense. Well, I guess the only other thing I can think of that would somewhat alleviate my troubles is if the nodes didn't auto-expand, and instead all black and all grey nodes were displayed collapsed. But perha…

Could you please elaborate on what you mean by "parent or child"? Case in point -- I have one paper called "A performance-oriented data parallel virtual machine for GPUs". This is at the top level. The only child of that is a node for the a…

Guess I should keep bumping this until someone tells me to stop :( Not sure if it's a known issue that's been dealt with, a will-not-fix, a cannot-reproduce, or what. If I should not bump this again please let me know but it's definitely a problem…

Tested a little more and the following DOI doesn't work. 10.1111/j.1467-8659.2008.01174.x It does still work with the CrossRef resolver. It's possible this is a problem with CrossRef, but just throwing it out there in case since I'm not s…

Aha. I didn't even know about that. I saw the pane on the right hand side between Info and Related and I thought that was the only way to manage tags. Looks good.
-
You rock! It works. Thanks
-
Yea, all of the DOIs I have been trying work fine when I insert them into the dx.doi.org resolver but I can find any that work in Zotero (I've only tried 5 or 6 so far).
-
Ahh, I guess this is the problem. It seems like now almost all the DOIs I put in fail to resolve.
-
Just thought I would give this a bump since it's so easy to reproduce and has a fairly high impact.

One idea I had for improving metadata retrieval is to scan the document for the word "copyright". the name of the journal and the year should be close by. Assuming it does have to fall back to a repository search, this should provide much more acc…

I'm not sure if it's XMP metadata or not TBH, I have only limited knowledge of PDF file format. When I open a document in Acrobat, for example, and click Document Properties, I see fields such as Title, Authors, Subject, and Keywords. These could …

I did not verify that the trash was empty before exporting. It's a bit of a pain for me to check, because this was an old computer that I've replaced. It's still sitting here but it's tedious to unplug this one, plug in the old one, check somethin…

I'm not sure what to say, I've looked at it multiple times. Select Trunk XPI Profile, Export RDF, include notes / files, change profile to 2.0b6 profile, import, I've reproduced the problem 100% of the time this way. Before exporting, every docume…
-
What I mean is, there is a bug in 2.0b6 that caused an overwhelming majority of my PDF files to retrieve incorrect metadata.I posted this in another thread and the issue was fixed by Dan. To test it out, I made a new profile with the trunk XPI, re-…

ok here we go. http://portal.acm.org/citation.cfm?doid=1289603.1289605 wraps the DOI across a newline.
-
I'll try to look for one, but now that I think about it I'd bet that an embedded space is what caused it to wrap in the first place in which case it's the same problem.
-
Odd, I could have sworn it did. Maybe I was looking at a different document. I have seen a few that cross newline boundaries though and I'm pretty sure that caused a problem. This one definitely did cause a problem, and when I look at it again I …
-
It's still made of win, but I did find a document that still fails even with the fix: 10.1145/1330511.1330518 I think it's failing because the DOI crosses a newline boundary.
-
Whatever you changed to fix that is definitely made of win. I had hundreds of failed documents before that required manual attention, now I haven't found a single one that fails using trunk :)
-
Awesome. I have many documents with the DOI listed in the exact same manner that all fail in the same manner, or sometimes even result in completely wrong documents. Since I'm new to Zotero, do beta updates get released frequently or would I need …
-
I didn't think of that :) But I suppose the main differences are a) not having to open a new window (i know real estate is limited in a browser add-on so I do understand the decision to make a new window), and b) not having to type anything because…

Well consider the document with DOI 10.1145/1330511.1330517, which I obtained by saving it to disk through my ACM Digital Library membership. In it is the following text on the first page: ACM Reference Format: Weidlich, A. and Wilkie, A. 2008. Re…

Yea I found the add item by doi. I'm still having trouble figuring out how to add an entire issue though, it's possible it just doens't work with this publication. I'll just use a concrete example. Consider the following journal issue: ACM Trans…

Thanks again, I'm starting to get the hang of it :) If an article is correctly guessed by Zotero, but it was not able to determine the DOI it fills out some of the information, but not necessarily as much as if it had the DOI. Is there a way for m…

Numerous articles from ACM Transactions on Graphics result in mismatched metadata. One quick example is: Modelling and rendering of realistic feathers
