Now Zotero is running like speedy gonzales, I was noticing some other performance issues. I've fixed all these problems by 'downgrading' to Firefox 3.0.14. The old FF versions are here Sounds like lots of folks are having speed issues with FF 3.5 …

If it uses a standard medical style, there are several fully supported and listed at the Styles repository including the AMA and Vancouver. If they have their own unique style, there are instructions on how to request a new style here: http://www.…

OK. Removed the LSA from the page, since it's not really a standard, but just for their pet journal... Just while I'm having a rant about standards, I haven't yet found a single journal in the Sciences which actually sticks to the standards of the…

I added it to the standards page. Does it supercede the Linguistic Society of America standard? http://www.cas.sc.edu/LING/resources/lsastyle.html Or are there ridiculously now two "standards" in Linguistics?! (and you'll probably tell me that the…

Cool - could you add it to the standards page ?

And a big +1 for PDF confirm / error messages. I always have to go back check if it downloaded OK, and so it isn't really saving me all that much time... (edit - it saves a lot of hassle with Wiley though, which is a pain manually due to their spec…

Ability to type something like [[Smith 2000, Jones 2004]] and have Zotero "read" the document and convert those to Zotero citations, asking you to clear up potential duplicates. I think the RTF scan already allows this? I haven't tried it myself, b…

Yeah I get the same error. Hmmm. Maybe it needs to be saved slightly differently? That IcoFX program saves in a few different formats...

+1 for Authors case transform. It's really the only thing I ever need to do manually these days. (maybe even automatically transform on import, or one-click for the whole database! Since styles can output caps where needed, there should be no reas…

There's an icon at http://www.zotero.org/favicon.ico Not sure of the res though - there might be a higher res than 16x16 embedded into it? (EDIT - looks like there's a 32x32 and 16x16 embedded in the same ico file.) For my purpose, I use the Firef…

The word plugin works great - give it a whirl. I especially like it with a keyboard shortcut set up: (in Word, right click any menu up top, choose "Configure" at the bottom, then the "Keyboard" button, again at the bottom. Select "Macros" on the …

Adding an underscore to the beginning of your note will keep it at the top.

WOW WOW WOW! It's SO much quicker!!! I'd started to take the slowness for granted (with 4000 items), but now it's like Zotero on drugs! Autocomplete is lighting fast, just navigating and adding and everything are nice and quick, and I did a 90…

Does this citation sorting issue need a ticket? I can't work out whether it's a CSL bug or a Zotero one (or both?!). It seems that automatic sorting of citations doesn't work - it's overriden by the bibliography sorting. A workaround is possible …

Hey thanks Bio'. Perfect. Probably should have STFF before I posted!
-
Hi Simon, Apparently this will all be sorted in the new version of the CSL (coming in a few weeks we hope!) It will use something like html tags to mark your text (as italic, subscript, etc), and this will magically be converted to the right form i…

Hey Ben this is fantastic! I'll try to take a closer look soon, but just a couple of quick things: It's important to mention the number of languages that Zotero works in?! I think it's 34 at the moment (though some are very similar). Re number o…

Hey thanks Rintze -- That works great! I guess the "and" is a different issue as it's between the surnames.

Will this be fixed in the new CSL? rgerkins example above isn't working for me... The citation just sorts by author, even with in the citation section. Am I missing something?
-
Well, if you are free to chose, then yes multi-dash conversion (2=En 3=Em) would definitely be the nicest solution, it is common shorthand in other software too. Glad to hear this will be fixed. It's a pain changing them ATM.
-
Well, there are lots of exceptions, though the above scheme would cover most events. In theory date ranges should have En-dashes even if they are words (e.g. March–May). CMOS also says expressions which are not compound and do not modify o…

Will dashes be handled in the new CSL? All the style guides I have seen require En-dashes between page ranges - the only one that I saw which used hyphens was for online only publication, (and I'm sure they'll get over it). (Em-dashes are recommen…

None of the pages that I added to the wiki on styles (e.g.) have been indexed by the Zotero search (or Google). Is there something special that needs to be on the page to get searched and/or indexed?

Hi CMDuke. The triangle just to the left of Author is a pull-down menu for options other than Author - (Editor, Translator, Contributor etc). Just add another Author, change the type to Editor, and it should work perfectly. If there are any probl…

Well, if it were possible to separate out the 'co-authors with same name' initials behaviour from the more general disambiguation behaivour without too much pain, then it would I guess allow both of the above cases. But if it's unwieldy, just leave …

But while I was looking, I did find an example a bit the other way: i.e. (Lee & Lee, 1990) (S. Kim, 1995) (B. Kim, 1990) (S. W. Lee, 1990) Thus given-name disambiguation by first author, but (Kim & Kim) without initials. I assume the curre…

Yeah, that's a good point. While looking for an example (I searched for Ehrlich & Ehrlich) I quickly realised that it would be very rare indeed for someone to have both a (Smith & Smith) AND a (Bennett FG 2004) and (Bennett JB 2004) (i.e.…

Sounds good. CSL 1.0 will be out soon we hope. The style should be compatible I think (and if it's sent to the repository, it will be "auto-updated" somehow). If there are any rules that can't be handed now (probably at least: given-name disambig…

Hi Frank Looks good for CSE but I can't see in the test code how you would turn it off? Can the (Smith JB & Smith RM 2002) behaviour turn on separately from the "by-cite" behaviour? Although it's specified in the CSE guide, I still often see…

I'm sure it would be helpful for all the other UniSA students! And if it is exactly like the Commonwealth of Australia style then it would be very useful!! I'll take a look and test a bit with some more tricky combos. As usual, the style guide d…
