OK. I agree that the fault is decidedly not with you. (Stupid WordPress.) Thanks so much for the debugging help. Very much appreciated.
-
Thanks, Dan! I added &wordpressjph=1 to the URL.

Thanks so much for taking a look in the logs to see what's happening. You're right, it works perfectly in curl. Using wget, I get this error: ERROR: cannot verify api.zotero.org's certificate, issued by `/C=US/O=Equifax/OU=Equifax Secure C…

Yes, Linux, an older version of Ubuntu. I'll upgrade -- thanks!
-
That was what the problem was. Thanks!

Dan! You fixed it magically by requesting a proper report! I swear to god it was broken yesterday and that I stopped and restarted Oo and Firefox before posting about it. I seem to be entirely unstuck now and moving forward. Frustrated tha…

Dan: Yeah, when I saw that I was going to have to rebuild all the links in the file by hand anyways, I figured it was a good time to get rid of all my duplicates (which I had been allowing to remain in order to avoid exactly this problem). This prob…

Testing that on the older version of the document (before I tried to repair the links) I get a page saying "Invalid ID." Testing it on the newer version of the document (after I tried to repair the links) I get a page summarizing the link in questio…

I emailed Frank so that he could send me the link to the version with the updated processor but have not heard back, so I haven't been able to test it. Would you like to see a copy of the newest version of the document, in which I replaced all …

Update: finished "fixing" the document, in that it no longer offers me more missing references. However, when I try to edit a reference that it had asked me to replace, the "edit citation" box now comes up with no citation in it, if that makes sense…

Reference 69 is one. It is possible it actually IS all of them; as I am working through the document, giving it new references to replace the ones it can't find, it just keeps offering me more. It skips some, but then comes back to some -- mayb…

OK, I am about to dive in to fixing this manually (wish me patience!). I would love, love, love suggestions on how to keep this from happening again. I have come to dread coming back to any project with Zotero footnotes in it after an appreciab…

No, I updated to Ooo 3.2.1 (actually in order to try to overcome problems with Bookmarks I was having -- failed to fix those problems but figured I may as well stay with the newer version).
-
OK, it's not the end of the world as workarounds go! If anyone else does have insights I would love to know why I'm not getting the mouseover text, though. Maybe a problem with the version of Ooo or something.

They are indeed highlighted in grey, but honestly I get nothing when I hover. (I did try again.) I can send you a screenshot if you want. I have never seen any text when I hover over them, actually, although I've been using the Zotero plugin to gene…

OpenOffice 3.2.1, Ubuntu Lucid. (Sorry. I should have said that at the start.) I am saving as ReferenceMarks. I don't mind using Bookmarks in the future -- whatever is more reliable would be what I'd prefer. Hovering over a citation with the mo…

I'm not sure what you mean by toggling the field codes. I tried alt+F9 in the main document (with the cursor in a reference number, and in the actual reference in the bibliography) to no effect. I also brought up the edit window for an individual ci…

Your summary is correct. However, when I first posted my question, I had only tested after changing one or two references. After posting, I added journal abbrevs for all the references, and refreshed again. I now see that some number of them did upd…

Since you mentioned bookmarks at one point, I went to check. I was not using bookmarks; I was using ReferenceMarks. Just to see, I went to my laptop (running jaunty) where I have an old and still-working version installed. I saved the document …

Thanks, Simon. I went and made that change. It successfully detected the location "file:///opt/openoffice.org3/program/" which is indeed where the soffice binary is. I restarted OO. Same error when I try to add a citation (bookmark). I submitted the…

OK, upgraded to OO 3.2.1. Now instead of a Java stack dump, I get the message "Zotero experienced an error updating your document." I reported it using the Zotero error reporting tool; it is ID 937167633.

Oh, and no, I am getting no dialog first -- just the error.

They are on their way. The document is sort of massive, so if you are likely to have a problem with that in the account's inbox, let me know and I can send it separately from the screenshot, or put it up somewhere for download, or something. And tha…

OK, turns out I can create Zotero citations successfully in new documents. So that's something. That doesn't help me edit my 70 page thesis with 200+ citations in it, sadly; that is the document that is broken. If I try to "edit" a citation in …

Just tried completely uninstalling Zotero plugin itself from Firefox and reinstalling that, then reinstalling the OO plugin. I still get the Java error / stack trace. Maybe I will try backing up to the previous version of Zotero.
-
OK, it worked. Thanks so much!

That is probably the answer. (I don't remember what version of Zotero I started with but it may well have been 1.0.) I am not at home now so cannot try to reset the desktop at the moment, but I'll try it later and will report back. Thanks very much!

Both Zotero installations are set up to autosync. In the case of the missing reference on the desktop, the desktop Zotero installation said it had synced "eight minutes ago," and the reference had been added before that. I'm not sure if that's all t…

Thanks so much to both of you. I tested this using bookmarks and it works fine, so I'm happy now -- and am impressed with the speed of response, both from Dan in helping me move forward and from adamsmith for updating the app. Thank you! Jessica
