Haha oops, sorry I broke the RSS feed. I didn't anticipate that! Damn special characters ruin everything they touch ...
-
Alternatively, let me know which existing forum category we should use for user interface suggestions.
-
In Firefox, when I choose "File -> Save Page As ...", then choose "Text file", then type "test", the page is saved as "test.txt".
-
Though Ingenta doesn't use a comma in an author's name, I nonetheless think it should be able to scrape "Evans G.A." as {lastname, firstname} = {"Evans", "G A"}.
-
I would agree with Ed that, when browsing content (as opposed to metadata), multiple single (or double) clicks is unecessarily too many. Suggestion: Next to the Toggle Fullscreen Mode button, how about a Toggle Snapshot Pane button? The so-called S…

Brilliant. Thanks Dan.

Bump? (Is it safe to assume that all "Troubleshooting" reports have been read and appropriately actioned by developers, or is that only the case when someone (usually Dan Stillman) replies in the thread? Is the "Troubleshooting" section of this for…

Oh yeah you can already do it. I don't know how I missed it. Thanks Dan.
-
I'd also like to see this feature.

I'll second APS sites. But really, having a translator for ISI Web of Science almost makes translators for these separate science journals redundant. The only problem (for me) is that Web of Science capitalises all its journal names!, so that Zotero…
-
I'll second that it would be very useful to be able to quickly tell whether an item is present in any collections.
-
amc, have you considered using collections / subcollections to manage read / unread articles? These are equivalent to tags in many ways, yet have a separate user interface. There is a distinction that can be made between data that are inherrent to …
-
I'll second that Zotero remembering the size and location of this window would be convenient. I routinely drag it away from the Firefox window.
-
Smooth, Dan!
-
I'll second this fix request. I like to use Ovid INSPEC whenever possible, because, unlike ISI Web of Science, it doesn't capitalise the names of all journals, some articles, and some authors ;-).
-
To clarify, I think the keywords and other metadata that databases attach to references are still useful things for Zotero to import, for searching purposes. I only desire that they don't interfere with the tags system. Perhaps an alternative is to…
-
Yep I was referring to a child item Dan.
-
Yeah I agree Zotero is already very well equipped to handle this sort of thing, whether by tags, saved searches, and/or subcollections. As you suggest Dan, I use tags like "unread" and "to read". On a related note: Dan, what are your thoughts on th…

I'd like to second Noahwf's request to have Zotero automatically maintain a BibTeX file that's equivalent to an export of the whole library. This would be very useful for me. A simpler alternative would be to streamline the user interface for export…
-
Ooh yes I think you're right about a web service; that might be the best solution. Many questions remain: Does the client need to be able to specify local modifications to the list of journal names and abbreviations, like adding a little-known or ne…

I'd like to second this comment. And the postscript. Andrew

I now observe that the "Preview Post" works when adding a comment to an existing topic. It only fails for me when trying to preview a new topic.
-
I'd like to second this request for a slightly "larger" user interface. In particular, optional keyboard shortcuts for common tasks, like those listed above, would be great. While the icon in the address bar is very neat, I would love something tha…

Ah OK thanks Dan. This automatic PDF download (and automatic renaming of said PDF, as discussed in another thread) would be a useful additional feature on sites that don't yet have translators, such as nature.com.
-
For many sites, like nature.com, it's possible import an item into Zotero by simply clicking on the link that's called something like "Export reference". This is almost as good as a translator, the only difference being that instead of having an ico…

I don't know about other people, but the way Zotero speeds my work when reviewing the literature is primarily by allowing me to browse a journal site (say, prl.aps.org), click whatever EndNote export feature the site offers (which Zotero catches aut…
