goodwin57: "my interest is in sciplore/docear too, but as I understand automating the bibtex export is quite an important part of that?" That was probably my intention, too, in installing AutoZotBib. Keeping SciPlore/Docear's BibTeX reference f…

adamsmith "Zotero exports filepath in bibtex. Has for a while now" That is great news!

goodwin57 "the improvement was in indexing the PDF file path when exporting to bibtex (I think)" adamsmith "There are some issue with preserving capitalization that are still unresolved" If this means that exporting item filepaths i…

"I see Zotero's bibtex export is now better from another forum" Is there a link for this? I'm not aware of any new developments regarding Zotero's bibtex export. Thank you.

Thank you for your reply, Robin. Your extension is very good, the problem is the interaction with sprtanroc's extension, which neither of you could be expected to account for. 1. It was installed recently, this year. As it's uninstalled, and …

It's half a bug, really. Possibly a conflict between his customisation and spartanroc's. Both of them were coding from the presupposition of the official Zotero code base. I can send him an email, referring to this discussion thread.

A quick update: Upon uninstallation of the Zotero/Firefox extension, AutoZotBib, Google Scholar is back to full functionality. Everything is fast, too.

fbennett: There are no tilde backup files in the translator's folder. A strange thing - I put BibTeX.js back in the translators folder. And spartanroc's changes worked this time, whereas they didn't before. I noticed the filepaths for two atta…

I didn't use the patches because I thought they were for an earlier version of Zotero. Are they necessary? I followed these instructions: "New Updates: updated: Mar 16, 2012 1. updated for Zotero 3.0.3 2. item_local.js …

This is from trying to save all the items on this page: http://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=zotero+translators "Could not save item An error occurred while saving this item. Check Known Tranlator Issues for more information" …

aurimas: That's what I thought. I backed up the data folder yesterday. I'm wary of deleting it, though. adamsmith: Just got your post whilst writing this. Resetting the translators is good for the default install, not good for spartanroc's …

The 'envelope' icon always appears. But it isn't fully functional. That is, with spartanroc's changes, clicking it produces a 'Can't Save, Known Translator Issues' response from Zotero. During the uninstalling/reinstalling of Zotero, the 'chan…

aurimas: "a bug report would be helpful." Of course, you're right. I should have kept track of my precise steps. The formulation of clarity will take some effort now. I didn't change the GS tranlator, the problem could have greater scope, I …

spartanroc, there seems to be a problem with the Google Scholar translator. Items are not being saved. Also, 'Retrieve metadata' is not working. Any ideas?

Yes, it's working very well. I am grateful to you, spartanroc, it's saved me from a lot of repetitive work. I can now use SciPlore seamlessly. I think I've got £2.17($3.477859) online somewhere, it's yours, have a coffee. Unfortunately, …

The confusion is over, everything works, and very well, too. Apologies to Jabref's developer, I didn't mean to sound dismissive of a fine application, the references to JabRef being a mere 'workaround', were from the context of the task under consi…

Thank you for your reply, fbennett. Upon a double click on the PDF entry in the file field, this (in the BibTeX field): file = {Author and Author - 2012 - BookTitle.pdf:C:\Users\Name\Documents\MY DOCUMENTS !\BookTitle.pdf:application/pdf}…

A quick update: There are issues that need to be resolved. 1) Rename pdfs with the BibTeX citekey. I've kind of done this, through Zotero's 'about:config', although there are issues with lack of unanimity in length of title, between …

Found one error: I neglected to remove "BibTeX.js". Have done so, and new entries have appeared in the Export Options. Great! It works! The filepaths are being exported in the BibTeX export, and appear in JabRef. Initially, they appear as norma…

Have done so, spartanroc, but no filepaths appearing in Zotero BibTeX exports. Using JabRef to view the file. At least one FF Addon is creating JavaScript errors, could this be affecting your modifications?
-
Greetings spartanroc, I have installed your files, and put "extensions.zotero.translator.bibtexExportLocalFilePath"into "about:config" as a new preference, it registers as a 'string', not 'Boolean'. And it doesn't seem to be working. I'm sure I…

Apologies, I should have been clearer. The problem has nothing to do with item operations in Zotero's middle pane. It appears after clicking on any attachment. Click 'Show File'. An Explorer pane appears, and a new instance of explorer.exe…

Yes, your interpretation is correct. Just did some more tests, though. Earlier, when first carrying out the debugging procedure, I clicked 'Show File' for some items, a number of times, just that, and the behaviour didn't occur. So I repeated…

D922563126 I should add that it is 'Show File' and clicking on the file, doing any operation, such as 'drag&drop', even moving it slightly, that produces the behaviour.

Thank you for your reply, Dan. I'd rather not upgrade FF until all the 'addons' are compatible with the more recent versions (of FF). However, I might be able to upgrade somewhat higher, depending on various factors, have to research into it. …

Thank you for your reply, adamsmith. I am quite happy with Zotero. It has qualities none of the others seem to have. And I've just found out how easy it is to import local documents into Zotero, you can do them in batches as well. That is what I w…

Thank you for your reply, adamsmith. The initial problem was that Mendeley wasn't seeing certain Zotero items accessed before its installation. In particular, those saved by earlier versions of Zotero, and not contained by a "parent" item, charact…
