Shared collections will not be a part of 1.5. On the roadmap shared collections are referred to as part of 2.0.

There is a old discussion running through some of the issues involved in hierarchical tags. http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/79/hierarchical-tags/ The short answer is that there is little consensus about the utility of organizing tags like this.…

What happens if you cut the file into two and import the two smaller files?
-
I believe the Chicago styles skirt this issue by simply skipping the pages field for books. It is a bit of a hack, but it actually seems to do the job pretty well. When you are citing a book you shouldn't need page numbers for the book itself, just …

What site are you working with? Does Zotero grab the PDF from that site when you are not using a Proxy?
-
First you might try using RIS instead of BibTeX. Otherwise you might check to make sure that you have the most up to date version of the BibTeX export format from Endnote. The next step beyond this would be to open up the exported file in a text …

It is probably best to make the switch at a natural ending point for a project. Most people continue to use Endnote with their old work and transition to Zotero for new projects.
-
You can use the suppress author button in the word plugin to get rid of author names for in-text citations. Zotero's word plugin and Endnote's word-plugin are not compatible. That is to say that there is no way to switch Endnote references in a wor…

I started working on some documentation on making your site Zotero ready. It is not completely fleshed out yet but you might find it useful.

That is a link to a report in his local Zotero collection. If he wants you to see that report he will need to export it. He can do that by saving it as HTML just as he would save any webpage. He can then send you the exported HTML file as an email…

In the long run this sort of thing should be handled through more customizable report generation. However, you can already use CSL to make this sort of customized tab-delimited or CSV export. It is relatively easy to hack CSL files for styles to g…

This issue is pretty similar to this one http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/4706/how-do-i-cite-this/#Item_2 and should be handled with this ticket https://www.zotero.org/trac/ticket/1068

Staring, or prioritizing items is a frequent request. See the threads bellow. http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/1205/ http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/2585/ There is a ticket for item rating as well https://www.zotero.org/trac/ticket/580

For the time being, if you want the original date to appear you will need to add it manually. There is a existing ticket to add a field for original date of publication, but it is not likely to be resolved soon. https://www.zotero.org/trac/ticket/10…

You should be able to make individual changes to references that persist through updates in Zotero itself and the Word plugin. I am not aware of any problems with those manual changes/additions being affected by upgrades.
-
You can get a quick view of exactly what the styles all look like by mousing over different formats on the styles page. I would take a look at the Harvard style, the various Chicago styles and the MHRA styles for a start, then browse through some …

You can see if the plugins are installed in the search pane of the preferences window. If there are hyperlinks there to install the plugins then you need to install them.

Thanks for the note nidi. I just added this to the list.

(Currently, there is no way to distinguish between the book section and the book itself regarding authors/translators/editors). This is correct, and it works just fine for editors and authors, at least in most cases, but you are right to point out …

A much easier to use CSL editor is under development. With any luck we should see it released in some sort of beta launch in the next few months. I am not on top the editor's particular features but I believe it should serve your needs.
-
Should the "insert/edit image" button be added to TinyMCE to make this easier for users? If there are enough users interested in sticking images in their notes that might make sense. It would be really slick if you could drag and drop image files f…

You can manipulate images just like you would if you were using HTML in building a webpage. See HTML images from the WC3.
-
Zotero 1.5, currently in beta, allows you to use HTML in notes. In this release you can simply use HTML tags to place images in your notes.
-
I am not entirely sure. The first question is whether or not Endnote is exporting those numbers in the RIS or BibTeX file you are trying to import. To find this out open up the .ris or .bib files with a text editor and see if you can find the number…

All the PDF's in the screencast work, I believe those came from ERIC. This PDF from Biomed Central worked fine for me. You can find the original article here.

Thanks for the note. This is a known issue which the developers are currently working on resolving.
-
Which version of the preview are you both using? I just tried a few different PDFs in the newest version, Sync3.2, and the metadata came in fine for me. The best way for the community to refine the tool is to mention specific PDFs that fail and wher…

This, or at least something along these lines, is part of the long term plan. See the roadmap.

The sync preview release is not for general daily use. See the red text at the top of the sync page. Further down that page you will see that "Mac Word 2004 is not currently supported by Zotero 1.5, though a compatible version is planned." If you …

I'm not sure I follow. Right now you can rename your notes by simply editing the first line of the note in question. Another way to put this is that if you think of the first line of text in your note it is, in almost every sense, the same thing as …
