You can use any of the existing portable solutions with 1.5. In some cases you will just want to remove your username and password from the preference pane in Zotero so that your not double syncing.

The highlight function in timelines only works on the text you can see in the timeline, which translates into it only working on titles. There is no way to format the entries differently. If there was though, it could solve the first request.
