I haven't heard of any problems like this. Are you sure your timeline is empty and not just showing you part of the timeline that has no items in it? If you use the skip to date field and jump to a spot where you should have an item is it empty?

Does this happen for other Linux users? On a mac items in the middle column stay highlighted, they just shift to a light Grey instead of the bright blue. The same behavior occurs for selected collections.

The WebDAV files are currently stored in one big zip file, so there is not really a way to do this. With that said the group features, currently under development, should offer a much more viable solution for this sort of collaboration.

You can drag and drop any sort of file into Zotero.

Has Zotero saved any proxies for you? It might be that something is wrong with them. Try turning off the proxy features in the proxy pref pane. You might also see if you want to remove any of the proxies Zotero has saved.

Sync should be the second tab in your preference pane, right next to general. If you don't see it you are most likely running Zotero 1.0.9 instead of 1.5. Upgrade and you should see it.
