I'm amazed the Guardian still hasn't got a translator. I thought I pointed this out about six years ago and it is increasingly seen as one of the world's leading papers these days. The website is also very clean and should be simple to screen scrape.

How are the unique keys generated? Will they always be identical across Zotero accounts?

So I get all the files from the storage folder and just overwrite existing files (if any)? And these folders can come from multiple zotero backup files?

It would have been the most recent version as of about the beginning of last October.

If I can find them, what's the easiest way to merge them back into the database? I have an old backup of a zotero folder from about two years ago with some files in it. Can I merge that in somehow too?

What do you mean, "is that new?" I can't remember whether it happened before but I suspect so although that would have been at least a year ago. Is there a variable in CSL that corresponds to this?

Why bother making a new plugin? Why not just use Zotero as is and just write a translator for Zotero to export the data out and into your CMS?

i did it the hard way. I just modified the CSL in a text editor using trial and error and only discovered the documentation when I googled a variable I couldn't understand.

you will most likely want to use the chrome pane to get a start chrome://zotero/content/tools/csledit.xul God - I wish I'd had the sense to use that a day ago...

The p will be in a prefix option on a page number somewhere and the commas are listed as either suf/prefixes or a group delimiter.

You don't need much tech knowledge. Just read though the citation and bibliography sections of the CSL file and see if you can work it out yourself. if not, check the CSL documentation for help.

I have the same problems. I'm only running it on a 1.6 Ghz netbook, but it's still slower than I'd expect even in relatively small documents with few citations and a few hundred references in the Zotero database.
