I should add that there's one annoyance with real-time validation and how the zotero repository handles CSL files: your document will never be 100% valid since the repo expects the updated element to be empty. I'd still like to see this changed, as …

I found the stuff on validating CSL a bit too brief for someone with no understanding of RelaxNG. I'm on OSX, and I like TextMate, so didn't really want another editor to buy/install. I installed an XML plugin for textmate, but it doesn't support th…

I'm not sure what you mean by "master source." If you mean database, then no. Use collections and tags to divide up your items.
-
Output is one thing, and that might helpful for implementers like Zotero. But the CSL syntax is another issue, and we just need some sensible way to describe this.
-
@mark: from my end, this is a tricky issue. I'm really not sure how to solve it in CSL, but I'm open to suggestions (and I'm really busy, so it's not like I've had tons of time to think about this).

I'm the author of CSL. I'm not willing to add font-size configuration, because it would add a lot of problems, and I really believe the problem here is Zotero-specific. Zotero should be matching the citation text with the surrounding citation style;…

Why is a CSL file that specifically handles a range of reference types redundant? Because, put simply, it's seldom necessary. Therefore, by definition, you have a lot of unnecessary (read, redundant) code. Look at the APA style, or some of the Chi…

Why couldn't an automatic menu account for that? Every time you add more UI customization, you add to the complexity.
-
This should probably get fixed in the future, since it is indeed weird. In the bibo RDF model, you have conference papers, which are presented at a conference, which may also be published in a proceedings. So, three discrete objects. Alas, that's m…

It seems to me the better approach is probably for that menu to be smart enough to populate based on, say, the five or ten most common entry types you use. E.g. it should automatically customize itself.
-
First, you shouldn't use "publisher-place"; you should use "event-place." Therefore, you don't need a conditional. Second, this looks to me like Zotero needs to add the appropriate mappings (ASAP), and so you're not doing anything wrong.
-
It seems as if it only works for first citations and it will not work for any subsequent citations. Depends on the context. Is there an outer conditional that constrains this rule to the first citation?
-
While this feature was never intended for this precise use case, I think Zotero should be outputting your desired result. So it should be more-or-less doable with CSL as is. For background, earlier versions of CSL had a grouping feature that allowe…

Well, you need the markup, but you don't need the integrated plugin. That adds another order of complexity.
-
This kind of stuff would also be of great help to users working in Google Docs and other environments missing a scripting layer. What is needed for such environments would be a simple Zotero extension that can scan any piece of text you feed it, loo…

So the upshot is, dmk, that you ought to first spend some time looking through the current style repository to see if one matches your needs. If (as would seem likely) one is, then you can just create a dependent style that links to it. This proces…

I see you have openid support, Dan, but how do you associate an openid with an existing account?
-
i too would amplify the suggestion of being able to color the entries in list view. Like Mac OS X offers this functionality for any files, it would be nice to add a color to an entry. Like this i would be able to better keep an overview of my collec…

@mmazzotta: I'm swamped, so can't promise anything. But re: previous post, in case anyone else finds time: One big issue that just occurred to me: supra should not be used when citing cases subsequent times (nor statutes, constitutions, etc.). See r…

I'd second mark's suggestion. find the current style that is closest to what you need itemize (in english, or whatever) the specific changes you need load the style in csledit.xul and (along with the documentation rintze notes) see if you can figu…

If we're not using quotation marks, though, there should probably be some stylistic treatment beyond just the indentation. So that it's easy for people to see what's going on semantically, I take it? I guess italics are one option, but there are a…

Dan, where's the CSS file? The open/close marks added to the blockquotes are really odd. I don't mind removing them myself, of course, but I'd suggest you do that more generally. Also, when the note is displayed in the sidebar (in particular), the …

Why would you use an abstract for an annotated bibliography? The content of the annotations should really be your notes. But that aside, something like this should work: …

I would also strongly urge you not to just keep your style to yourself. I presume you're wanting to modify Chicago either b/c it's incorrect, or because you have to correspond to a very similar style with slight differences. If the first case, the…

Yeah, font size (and family) definitely does not belong in the interface. As Dan notes, It could be a good global preference item for display.

Yes, noksagt's interpretation is correct. Also, this feature isn't yet implemented in OOo. I believe it should be coming in 3.1, but am not sure.
-
1) Would these three "language tags" be sufficient, or should Zotero allow an arbitrary number of variants per field, with a way to designate the variant containing the primary version? An example of the latter: Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chine…
-
Keep in mind that as of the last we discussed this on the xbib list, this feature would require a conditional that allowed counting of authors (and probably any variable; can get tricky though when you fold in issues like substitution).

I transfer my database from EndNote to Zotero, but I have the impression the record number in EndNote , which is very useful for me as all my articles printed are classifed with this number, have not been imported. It's a really bad idea to build a …

Worth noting, too, that ODF 1.2 and OOo 3 are getting robust, RDF-based, extensible metadata support.
