The purpose of the terms is just to make it easier to find styles. The categories tend a little towards being more generic on the theory that it's more important to be able to describe a style accurately than it is precisely. I have no problem addin…

I coulndn't be less concerned with the official recommendations, if it worked. You should be, because it either means a bug in bibutils, or a bug in your use of it. As for apt-get and macports: I don't know what to tell you, but here's what I see i…

I would be very surprised to see Chrome support anytime soon, if ever.
-
BTW, bibutils is available via both macports and apt-get.
-
Including a BOM in a UTF-8 file is "not recommended" according to this wikipedia article (and my recollection), and I have a hard time believing that bibutils has any problem properly recognizing a UTF-8 file without it (I vaguely recalling discussi…

Whatever the solution is I really want it to be based around the new open periodicals db. Users shouldn't have to "import" anything; stuff should "just work." In that case, I'd probably imagine using a URI to identify the abbreviation list.
-
Chris has been continually improving it AFAIK, but has been kind of incommunicado with me as well. I'd guess he just fixes stuff as it comes up. In general, bibutils is really good. I personally would like to see it moved to an open SCM repo (say G…

So you're wanting to copy-and-paste fully formatted citations into the wiki but then have that into the wiki? Can you point me to an example? Also, what wiki software?
-
Why do you want the page numbers formatted differently?
-
Dan, any change in this? Trying to manage a group library, and it's a major PITA to try to deal with the mess of auto-tags we now have. I can't delete them even individually, nor apparently even change their names.
-
My point was simply to demonstrate an example that could very easily be modified for what hippiecore needs. I understand that CSL is not designed for this, but in the absence of a real CSV export or customisable html, it has saved me alot of effort …

@Komrade's Yes, JS isn't idea;. Am just wondering if their might be other options; like some simpler template-based example such as XSLT. If I were going this, I'd rum the XHTML report output through an XSLT.
-
CSL isn't really designed for outputting customized markup. And yeah, the example isn't even valid XML (you need to escape the markup).
-
Just to clarify my "too confusing" point: It's not a problem for me. It is a problem for many of the students I am asking to use Zotero, who have varying comfort levels with this technology.
-
Another issue: the installation process is too confusing, and users are forced to wade through a bunch of content to figure out what to install. Can you not have the links in one clear, consistent, location? Maybe it's just a little table on the fr…

@SImon: the reinstall UI needs work. First, the "reinstall OpenOffice components" text is a little vague. I'd prefer if it said "reinstall Zotero OpenOffice plugin". Second, there's no progress information, so appears that it freezes (and AFAIK, ma…

It is up to you, but I just don't want others to later read this thread and think it's a good idea ;-) FWIW, I do think Zotero should add some explicit support for user IDs and labels, and to in general do a better job distinguishing user data from…
-
I'm going to keep repeating this: using internal database numbers (like Endnote IDs) as the basis of a filing system is a really bad idea. It's even worse to be hacking Zotero to be sticking these data in other fields, which are not designed to ho…

No, and no. That's a pretty unreasonable request, after all ;-). Is this really a practical problem? How often does a book have more than even two authors?
-
I think XSLT would be a sensible candidate for such conversion, but would note that I'm pretty sure the bibutils code can do this already (at least to MODS).
-
@adamsmith: If one of the developers has a minute to talk about how and if they think these will be addressed, I think that would be very helpful - for users as well as "proselytizers". Usual disclaimers aside, there's still a plan to do the online…

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, at a certain point, some of these details are up the user to deal with in their data; not in CSL processors. CSL per se isn't likely to be supporting blanket substitution of dashes and such (in my python impl…

Updating isn't now possible, but it's the radar.
-
Maybe I just got thrown by the "test cases" language. What I was pointing to is to ensure that processor do as expected.
-
The CSL test suite is here. Would be good if people could contribute to that.
-
Just an update: in my python csl engine, I'm using an HTML + RDFa internal model, so the structured semantics always accompany the formatted content. I've not yet figured out how I'm going to deal with the formatting attributes and CSS hooks, but I'…

Actually, I think perhaps this is easier than this: it sounds like a "series editor", which is already covered in CSL with the "collection-editor" name variable. For Zotero, I'd add "series editor." There are better ways to do the other stuff; see …
-
FWIW, my experience trying to introduce this for use in a graduate seminar suggests people have a hard time understanding how to manage the relation between personal and group content. I was originally planing on having students contribute weekly re…

I'm just going to repeat my earlier question (though also repeat: I don't speak for zotero): For those research companies and institutes (as well as universities) that really consider this critical, can you imagine contributing to filling this gap? …
