Um, that's really NOT the correct solution, unless you only ever want it to apply to that style, and that style only (not to mention having to edit it every time there's some change). http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/2991/
-
So is this really a Zotero-related sort issue, or is a platform or FF-specific non-ascii input issue? E.g. wouldn't there be similar issues if you wanted to input an em-dash?
-
Forget about the type for a second: what fields do you need to properly represent a poster? Also, keep in mind that a conference poster is different than a political poster from some archive.
-
Yeah, but that's not a very good general solution. I still urge people that need this style to help develop a more open alternative.
-
Yeah, I didn't say you're "doing [y]our jobs wrong"; I meant exactly what I wrote. I meant that how you may do things in your discipline or area does not or should not necessarily translate directly into how it gets implemented in Zotero. If you're…

I am a user too. I have no problem with the view that we need support for circa dates and date ranges; I subscribe to it. But defining a need should not be conflated with a particular solution to that need, particularly if it breaks critical functi…

And there's something big to be said for a) standards, and b) not reinventing wheels. http://www.loc.gov/standards/datetime/features.html http://wiki.whatwg.org/wiki/Time_element As with names, dates are critical in many cases for basic functional…

And I guess following Dan, my point would be that serving up the BIBO/RDFa is really easy, and consuming it (which includes reformatting it for other formats) is also easy. E.g. the one doesn't preclude support for the other.
-
And RDFa can be a good, low-cost, way to serve and access at least some of these data (everything that be represented in BIBO RDF/XML or turtle can be represented in RDFa; it just gets a little ugly with some features). There's a really strong argum…

Thanks for your interest, but I'm really past caring. No one will notice afterall. People here took time out of their day to understand your concerns and help you, and to try to figure out how your suggestions might be generalized (e.g. apply to the…

Don't get too used to the fallback though; that behavior is going away soon.

Shouldn't we change the macro to first say that any items with X characteristics gets italicized, then add a rule that deals with descriptor detail for books and reports? In other words, all titles in APA either get italicized, or they don't. How do…

No gods, but it's a little more complex than toggling a setting. The style is here. This is the template that determines title formatting: So in English, it's saying …

Doesn't having multiple "default-locale" values kind of abuse the spirit of the attribute (which really suggests a singular value)? In any case, always good to test these sorts of idea with some real code, so good to see!
-
Another example where the problem is less about typing than about the fields Zotero makes available in those type templates. I'd like to see a change soon where Zotero opens things up substantially.
-
Are those people logging into those computers as separate users? If yes, that ought to solve the problem, as you can just configure Firefox/zotero in your account to sync with your zotero account.
-
Not sure (don't recall the issues, and don't have time ATM to refresh my memory; Frank is probably better to comment on this), but the CSL 1.0 spec section on names is here. If you have any suggested revisions, let us know. How it gets implemented i…

Notes are definitely way too limited ATM. At minimum, you need to be able to see quickly who authors a note. But to really make it worthwhile, you probably need to add the ability to reply to notes, and so to set up threading. Am not sure this is a …

Well, he added my requested "default" tab, so that offers room to deal with a macro oriented approach.
-
It's more than just frontend code at this point, but not totally ready for testing. Anyone interested in volunteering to test it?
-
If you don't want people to get distracted by "parenthetical throwaway comment[s]", then don't make them ;-) And what Gracile said; zotero-dev is the proper forum for dev discussions.
-
A prerequisite for encouraging third-parties to do this sort of things, however, is an open, documented, read/write API on the server.
-
could you get some proper forum sofware such as phpBB? If you've done development work, you should know feature requests based on vague and loaded critiques ("proper"? what's wrong with the current forum software, specifically?) aren't very helpful?
-
Since the idea that types are too limited in what fields they allow (your second suggestion), I'll just underline this again as something that is an easy fix that would go a long way.
-
It is technically easy enough to convert ens styles to csl. For the real reasons why not, search for "endnote zotero lawsuit." While the judge thew out the case, I'm guessing Zotero devs figure it's not worth the hassle to turn on this functionality.
-
You need to be more specific. "Font display" where? How is it "troublesome"?
-
When I use author date styles like this, I typically do something like (Doe, 1993; quoted in Smith, 2002:23). Easy enough to do with Zotero, and it's correct.
-
Not really following the details (and busy), but I tend to pay attention when I see "RDF" and "DC" in a thread. Obviously zotero should be able to input and output RDF/DC dates in standard machine-readable date formats. If it can't, that's a bug. T…

You can make your group public, which will allow people to join the group (which is how one syncs with its library). Here's one I set up (though it's not exactly been a rousing success!).
-
If I was being a bit terse, I was thinking about BIBO encoded as RDFa. I believe Zotero ought to be able to parse it (if not now, soon). You can see an example here.
