You might look at RDFa?

I've written about similar (if more ambitious; where hinting is based on context of the citation) ideas previously. I definitely think the idea is a major improvement on the really tedious context switching that currently happens. But as adamsmith s…

My point is not to avoid inconsistency; it is simply to say that I don't think any of us have a clue what we're doing (legally). I certainly don't. If we don't have access to a proper IP lawyer, then this seems better than nothing. But given previ…

But Mozilla was dealing with code subject to copyright? I still wish we could get some advice on these details from a lawyer.

Unless there are objections, I'll be sending out an email in the next day to everyone who has submitted or contributed a style asking them to license their work under CC-BY-SA. No objections, but a suggestion: could you just say in the email "Unless…
-
The email came because someone noticed they were using the styles after having stripped out the attribution content. So I guess they decided to contact individual authors before restoring it. On your bigger question, I think the answer is we don't …

It seems sensible to me to add a 15 GB option. Is there any reason not to do that?

A few things: First, often easier to post the styles at http://gist.github.com/. Second, on the comma, this should really be the suffix for the item as a whole; right? What happens if you put a suffix="." attribute on the bibliography layout eleme…

I suggest the behavior should be controlled by a setting in General or Plugin Preferences "Suppress Track-Changes in MS Word ..." I think that'd be "Suppress Track-Changes in Document" or some other more generic description (Zotero also supports Ope…

And there's the new separate effort to look into running the server apart from zotero.org. http://www.zitation.org

If you're going to be so casual with your technology decisions, please don't waste people's time with questions whose answers you don't have the most minimal patience to pursue.
-
Basic question: did you install the Firefox plug-in? Did you read the help documents?
-
I noticed nobody answered my question, so I asked someone I know at IBM. His answer was: Did you stumble upon this page for the Symphony Developer Toolkit? http://symphony.lotus.com/software/lotus/symphony/developers.nsf/home That is the main inform…

If you're a grad student, a) are you sure your institution doesn't have MS site licenses (where you just pay the cost of the media)?, and/or b) have you tried OpenOffice? In any case, I guess Simon's established that you don't need to upgrade you W…

If you're using Zotero 1.0 because of your word-processor, then I strongly suggest you change your word-processor (either upgrade Word or use OpenOffice). You're really limiting what you do (particularly for sharing) otherwise.
-
FWIW, I believe this is related to this issue. Also, I don't recommend using/recommending non-standard solutions (ones not in the CSL spec).
-
You need to manually edit them (probably a limitation of the data on the page and/or the Zotero translator). Change the type to "manuscript" and edit as needed.
-
However, we don't live in that world any longer. In my particular case, the 52+ references are mostly blog posts. So what is the issue here? That they don't have authors, or that you're really citing 50 or so blog posts from the same author in the s…

If you're talking about Drupal, two things of note: there is a biblio module (by Ron Jerome) he's working on adding a formatting engine analogous to what Zotero offers (and using CSL for the style files); it could probably be easily extended along …
-
Put the information in a note? It doesn't make much sense for Zotero to explicitly deal with pricing data, as beyond it not being particularly relevant for citations, it would open a huge can of worms (you want Amazon, I want Borders, and someone e…

Irrespective of the bug, I've got a bigger question: why do you have a situation where you have so many colliding references? It seems one should never have this situation to begin with.
-
I guess it's worth asking what, concretely, an example like this offers that a traditional issue tracker does not. I guess I'm tending to lean towards noksagt's point on further reflection that it's "not much." Yes, it can give a way to gauge relati…

Dan, on: As for the above, it's not lack of awareness of user priorities that prevents things from getting done—it's lack of developer time, and our having other priorities for a variety of reasons (including, most notably, grant requirements) that …

I like this idea myself.

OTOH I am critical of, and rather puzzled by, the zotero group's lack of transparency on this topic. +1 I've been complaining about these issues for years, and so am disappointed they're still not resolved. Come on guys; release the damned code, an…

Having used Zotero for about a year now, this is one of the things I most miss about Endnote. Editing styles in Endnote is so simple and straightforward. Funny; that wasn't my experience at all. So I'm the creator of CSL, and the impetus for it was…

I strongly agree. +1.

If you search the forums, you'll see this has come up many times. You'll also see me commonly recommending against such a filing approach ;-) If you need to do this, you can note zotero does actually add an id to items. For example, here's one of m…

Just to be clear: The idea of a "person" type has been floated and has never received much support from Zotero Central ... What we're talking about here is NOT a "person 'type'". It is a new kind of data and UI entity. Also, I've used the language …

OK, good points alexuw. I guess I'm arguing for reasonable complexity with good pay-offs. The pay-offs for treating authors and other contributors as linked contributors include: solving the disambiguation problem that was the original subject of t…
