The plugin itself cannot be synced with you bibliography. You need to have a connection to Zotero via Zotero Standalone or a browser-Plugin. In one of these you can enter your Zotero Account-credentials, and than it will work. See https://www.zot…

@dunning: You can't protect paranoid Users from deleting folders for programs they just installed. This will happen when you just mistrust the programmer of the software you just installed... Funny to read when they break their installations on t…

You have to Download "Zotero for Windows", this is the standalone. The others provided for Chrome etc. are the Plugins. When installed, a Icon is provided starting up the program. I'm not aware for a Mac-Standalone, as I have no Mac.

Set up an account, then you can download it. It's free.

@Dimtros1 zum teilen von Beiträgen bietet sich in Zotero ggf. eine entsprechend konfigurierte Gruppe an - wenn man dir schon helfen will, musst du auch mitmachen...

Are you trying this in Zotero Standalone, or via Internet?

Thanks for the information. I still wonder where the REAL difference is in writing (Author YYYY) or Author (YYYY) - it's a kind of sophisticated nonsense. Writing the Authors Name in the Text is kind, writing only the cite's number isn't consumin…

@LiborA How do you do that?

One thought about this: You could work with Zotero as it is by now. When your work is finished, you detach alle fields (like you do with any other citation-manager) and have a plain text with all the in-text citations in the format (Author YYYY). …

Thanks for the information!

Thanks for that, but it belongs to the discipline of posts authors. It is still somehow funny, as we are discussing on the functionality of a citation managing tool, and we (some users) even cannot write down precise headings with the right termin…

You will have to use Zotero Standalone for some things mentioned in the following. When you select the group library (or any folder) before storing a citation, the cite will be placed in the selected folder. You have to use Zotero Standalone to see…

Could PLEASE anyone posting on "5.0 BETA" PLEASE USE the right descriptor in the posts headline? It has to be [5.0 beta], as in a few days or weeks we all will stumble on beta-related posts named "Zotero 5.0" or "Z 5" whatever, but dealing with "5.…

Could you maybe put all the Webcitations with the timestamps in a table and add that to your reference-list as an addendum? That could be a workaround. To muddle around with the original citations would be o good idea in the end...

You are able to store the Web-citation with a snapshot. So you can proof any Websource with that snapshot. It seems ridicolous to provide the exact time of access in the citation, as you couldn't reveal the source, even when you have that time... …

The close availability of the final Zotero 5 sounds good. But: I think it's a good idea to have a proper Backup of the "old" Zotero 4.X and especially it's data directory before installing the coming Zotero 5, even because Z 5 will migrate the libr…

@adamsmith For the case that you copy references in a new Group-Folder, my idea has to work, as one can store citations in there and the citations can be edited - am I right? So there can be no Problem when I "double the reference in the right way…

Maybe you should copy the references with the (correct) full title to a subfolder (e.g. Workfolder "Thesis") and modify the title to a short form in that workfolder. So the original citation stays correct, and you will use always the shortened form…

Is there a version to be installed on a USB-stick? That could be a workaround.

It seems the search is not possible in the Web-Version? I mostly have to use this due to security-reasons at the office I work in - I'm not allowed to install Zotero Stand Alone.

Hi Alex, I would recommend one thing regarding to the structure the citations have to be organized. I just performe a switch from RefWorksto Zotero. In Refworks, I stord lots of citations in (virtual) folders regarding to different contents. I m…
