The LibreOffice plugin doesn't do anything unless you click one of the buttons in the toolbar. If LibreOffice crashes when you open a file, it's almost certainly a LibreOffice bug. I'll see if I can reproduce this.

I fixed this so that we preserve the case of all characters after the first. I'm debating whether it we should correct the case of titles that are all caps and >1 word. What do you think?

There's no option to control this, but you can override the style attribute in your CSS file using !important declarations, or you could use a regular expression find/replace to remove the style attributes.

If you tell Zotero Standalone to share data directories with Zotero for Firefox when you first open it, it will import your preferences from Firefox, but preferences will not be shared between Zotero for Firefox and Zotero Standalone after that.
