The reason I wanted to do so was to make it easier to edit the Notes. In the desktop version you can click on and expand the Notes, but this is not possible in the online version. That is why I wanted to expand the right panel instead

Thanks, I meant to say this question was in relation to the online version, where this response does not seem to be possible, or am I wrong?

Thanks for this work-around. I agree, it would be great if Zotero could deal with this fairly basic problem

Problem solved. When I made the associated attachments and screen shot items no longer visible I was able to copy without dificulty

Bizarre..Following above advice, in my Chrome "Enable extension toolbar redesign" was already enabled. Disbling did nothing, but then re- enabling it made the Zotero icon appear, where it had not been seen before. But only faintly, with no function
