Is it possible to implement a 'down-arrow tab menu' to rectify the issue?

Well, Preview displays them in the Windows menu even when they are opened as tabs. Hopefully this is possible. A down-arrow tab menu would work, too.

I should add that this issue arises only when using Preview to highlight PDF documents. When I use Acrobat Reader, highlights are correctly extracted.

Same, I also have this issue and when it occurs I am not able to shutdown or restart my laptop—a hard shutdown is necessary.

@aarontimo Any chance you've left Preview open for a while? I, too, sometimes get this error, and I've found that quitting Preview and/or restarting my Mac rectifies the issue.

Is there an xpi available, or do I have do run the make command on a mac? Would rather not install the developer tools.
