I've never been convinced one way or another about this. I don't use "multiples" very often myself, so I don't see as much value in it (but I'm sure others may). In this case, given the lack of author metadata in chapters, I think it's more valuable…

On Windows you can schedule tasks http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/schedule-task#1TC=windows-7
-
That's a perl script. You wouldn't run it from within Zotero (in fact, you should probably have Zotero closed when doing this). I'll assume you're on Windows. https://www.google.com/search?q=running+perl+scripts gives you a number of options. http:/…

Best choice is to back up the existing Zotero library and then restore that backup on the new computer Sync should be able to accomplish the same, but you probably don't want to risk it (in case not everything has synced).

I think showing every hit (or so) is massive overkill.I would disagree. I think showing context for the first hit would be almost as useless as not showing any context at all. Odds of the first hit being what I'm looking for are not that high, so it…

Anyone care to post a screenshot of this?
-
In terms of display space, Mendeley does it by putting two/three lines underneath each item (I'm trying to get my friend to send me a screenshot). It seems pretty elegant. That's pretty limited though. You could only show a single hit. What if there …

What citation style (journal?) is this for? Is there any documentation for this style?
-
Why are you using such outdated Zotero? Update to the current version (4.0.19) here (both Firefox and Standalone): https://www.zotero.org/download/
-
Plus, how often do skip-words reappear in titles? (I suppose if you're working on a subject that involves a proper noun)
-
This may not be too difficult to add, but it's not exactly clear where this data is supposed to be displayed (not so much the hit counts, but the hit context). I think displaying keywords and surrounding text would go well with the "preview" pane pr…

"linear" solution is provided here using RegExp searches. (in case someone else comes looking for this)
-
This is where I learned regexp: http://www.regular-expressions.info/

Unfortunately, no, none of that is available in Zotero. Though I don't think anyone would object if this was implemented.
-
I would say submit a Debug ID, but you can't if the program freezes. You can try to submit the real-time debug output if you notice that the text stops scrolling. If the text keeps going after Zotero freezes, then there's probably noting wrong (it's…

oh and for (b) the answer is no. That will just search for quotation marks as well.
-
Handy tip (completely unrelated): To query two words within N words of each other, try word1(?:\s+\w+){0,N}\s+word2 E.g., to query for "secondary data" or "secondary analysis of data", use secondary(?:\s+\w+){0,2}\s+data ;-)
-
FWIW, I think this could be implemented as a Zotero extension
-
Have you tried letting it think for some time (say, let it go for 30 minutes)?
-
Made multiples handling more flexible and fixed the other nits mentioned by duvane (except for authors, which is... probably impossible as a general fix)
-
if we want to supplement author data we'd probably want to use DOI not ISBN - there are, in fact, chapters from edited volumes on that page. While we started doing this for amazon.com, I really don't think doing this as we're scraping the page is a g…

The statement which I called bold, and quoted, was not by you, BTW.oops. I think I made the same statement on Twitter though. Your meaning is perfectly clear; and you're correct that that ORCID can't give you a UID for that ambiguous author. The pro…
-
That's a bold statement; it doesn't seem to be supported by anything in your post. I have already explained how, today, Zotero could capture, store and emit ORCID identifiers along with other bibliographic metadata.I'm not sure how else to explain …

We have a dedicated translator for this, but http://www.tandfonline.com/toc/wgge20/current#.U09Cu_ldWSo The point being that this could happen on other websites too and /toc/ seems like the only common denominator.
-
@adamsmith, What do you think about using "/doi/(?:abs|full|figure|ref|citedby)/10\.|/toc/\d+/\d+|/action/doSearch\?" as the regexp, bumping priority to 200, and possibly checking for something else in detectWeb (not quite sure what yet)
-
You can try submitting a debug ID for reloading the page even when it's working. This way we'll know that you're doing everything right when it stops working.
-
Also, I do not see why you would expect, for a given DOI, to get the author'(s') names and identifiers /from/ the ORCID API Mostly because ORCID is in the business of identifying which authors have what publications out and in sciences figuring out …

There's been talk about the forums undergoing an upgrade to the latest Vanilla version (I believe). After that, additional improvements are possible, but the utility of ORCID for a support forum is questionable. As far as the public Zotero profile …
