The very next item in the collection -- a snapshot that I *don't* need to move -- seems to be able to move without a problem. That's what originally made me think there are circumstances in which a snapshot can and cannot be moved.

To clarify -- I want to make the snapshot a child item of the newspaper article, but that's what it won't do. Won't move to a child item of a generic item, won't move to a different collection, simply won't move anywhere.
