If you have Track Changes on, in newer versions of Word, it also shows the underlying field code changes. You should indeed accept them for the field codes (which means that you have been editing the citations with track changes on). Another option …

@c-sander Glad it worked! Would still be interesting to see the log for the operation, just to see how long which parts of it took and see whether we could improve anywhere.
-
@gabbro Should be fixed now. Thanks for the report!

The proxy feature is available in Safari, although you either need to manually enter the initial proxy entry with the scheme, or log in into your proxy with Zotero and Chrome/Firefox with Zotero Connector installed first, which will then transfer the…

@c-sander Probably the only option is to download Cygwin and then do Zotero debug output logging to the terminal. Cmd doesn't work, it limits the number of lines logged. @fbennett The consumption is negligible.

Do you see Zotero.dotm in Developer -> Word Add-ins? https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#zotero_tab_does_not_appear_in_the_word_ribbon
-
Please do post the new log.

Works fine on my Ubuntu 16.04 machine. See https://www.zotero.org/support/troubleshooting_translator_issues

This is really weird, and still likely related to something in your document. Can you at least manually change the formatting of the citation to stay black? That's probably your best option. Maybe a bit of a nuisance, but if you are not seeing any o…

Most likely related to Mojave beta, if you are running that https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/312200#Comment_312200

Could you restart your computer and try opening Tools -> Add-ons within Zotero again? If it fails, please submit a Report ID?
-
Is it yellow in a new document?
-
Have you tried inserting the different references in the same location in the document, where you get the yellow text? It's likely related to the location in the doc, not the item cited.
-
This is certainly not Zotero doing it, Zotero never generates text with background or symbol colouring. Zotero might change the style of the citation to "Body" (or copy the style of the text surrounding it). You might have a Word document style corr…

Inserting citations in tables, textboxes or captions will lead to this. Make sure you remove any citations from non-main body of text (or footnotes) and see if it works.
-
We do not really have any good news on this. On the current Mojave Beta a lot of inter-app integrations are broken (e.g. XCode and Finder, or controlling any app using Apple Script via the Terminal). Zotero relies on this mechanism too, you should g…
-
@fbennett Could you take a look at this? Zotero is running out of memory while citeproc is working. It's a lot of citations, but still shouldn't take 1GB of RAM to process.

What operating system are you on? The newest version of Mac Word unfortunately is quite slow with Zotero. People report much better performance with Windows Word, or even running WinWord within a virtual machine on a Mac, which is something you coul…

@wvdvegte This has been available for a few months now. @Chantal%20Leclerc Not currently possible, but once again there now is a progress bar.
-
There is nothing to indicate that the plugin is particularly slow in the debug log you have sent us, but you do have an ongoing Zotero sync, which might be slowing you down. You should check Zotero performance once the sync is done.
-
@c-sander it might help if you could provide us with a full log somehow, e.g. send a compressed version to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread.
-
@c-sander That is a good point regarding memory. The current standalone Zotero release is 32-bit, so it probably cannot address more than 4GB, but since you're not reaching it, not getting an out of memory error and Zotero stays responsive, theoreti…

Can you install other extensions? Do buttons for them appear? If you navigate to about:extensions can you open Zotero Options page from there?
-
Let's keep the discussion in this thread. Go into Zotero Preferences -> Cite -> Word Processors and (re)install the Word plugin. With the Word 16.9 update from Microsoft, the Zotero plugin was broken and for users who had moved Zotero profiles…

Does it help if you disable any of the plugins?
-
@bhovav Do you have an official installation of Word? Do you use any other 3rd party plugins with it? Do you run any security software?
-
Follow the steps in this thread Also, in general, don't create new threads and continue in the existing thread, unless a different kind of issue emerges. Let's continue this discussion here.

@bwiernik The Zotero Beta attempts to address (seems like unsuccessfully) a specific issue some people are having with Zotero crashing. This is just the update taking a really long time. @c-sander Your best bet is to do it on a more recent machine …

Try the Zotero Beta and report if that's better.
