(Citation styles _can_ add this field, to be clear, and some do, but it's not a common requirement and this style doesn't seem to require it as per mjthoraval)
-
Even more specifically, could you walk us through exactly how you're adding that item to Zotero (from the browser, using metadata import, using add by identifier?)
-
Absolutely don't press purge storage. If your storage is at 300.5MB it just means it's full -- your library could have been multiple times that times -- files above 300MB simply wouldn't have synced, but importantly, metadata (i.e. the actual item …

Is the right account though, i.e. the one your posting with (it's 12 years old so seems likely)? Because if you can access your settings here, you can just add a new email address and make it primary. If this isn't the right account and you can't l…

Yes, the option is only a display setting for an individual desktop application. It doesn't affect display on the web, in the mobile apps, or even on other, synced desktop apps.
-
The settings for file renaming? No. The files themselves with customized filenames, yes Sorry about that. See below

They should be very, very embarrassed -- this has been in the APA manual since at least 2009. If you do need to comply with incorrect APA style, this should work: https://github.com/bwiernik/zotero-tools/blob/master/apa-no-disambiguation.csl Click…
-
You're just incorrect about APA rules and Zotero implements them correctly: APA disambiguates all first authors with the same last name. See the short version here: https://apastyle.apa.org/style-grammar-guidelines/citations/basic-principles/citing…

If you want to make a case for the importance of humans in software dev, being a jerk to humans who have supported software for decades because they disagree with you about AI is an odd move...
-
Yeah, but with plugins we're now in a place where you can do maintenance with Claude Code entirely, so you don't actually rely on the maintainer that much anymore
-
Hmm -- I think we should fix this, though. We don't have an Australian locale, but if anything the GB one is more similar to Australian rule, so that should handle the style correctly.
-
And if you can't use those installation methods, I'm afraid there's not option for CWYW; it doesn't work without the desktop app installed, neither on Google Docs nor on Word online.
-
That's correct IEEE now, the guidelines changed
-
The standard MHRA styles in Zotero use just the publisher, as the 4th edition of the manual recommends. There are variants that include the place of publication available, e.g. https://www.zotero.org/styles?q=id:mhra-notes-publisher-place

(You already asked this yesterday & got the same answer? https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/129844/display-info-not-tags-and-related-by-default#latest )
-
Yes, one advantage of using the Zotero field is that it syncs like any other field, manages conflicts, etc.
-
I don't have access to CABI, but it looks like it should be recognized via the standard Atypon translator -- what exactly happens when you click on the Zotero connector icon on the first URL? Do you get an error for atypon and it then saves the snap…

(Zotero isn't a BibTeX manager and BibTeX most certainly isn't some sort of gold standard for metadata, so what BibTeX does is only marginally relevant). What does chapter do though? Just a chapter number? And if so, when and how is that used? I'm j…

That's for the Zotero prefs. I don't think there's a simple way to backup the connector prefs -- are you mainly concerned with the proxy settings?
-
To be clear _opening_ in another app isn't the challenge. It's open in another app and then have a reliable way to get the file saved back to Zotero that preserves the annotations, integrates them into Zotero appropriately and doesn't cause too many…

The popup is BBT. @dstillman -- would Zotero have migrated or try to migrate citation keys from Extra (with Citation key: author1984) to the new field?
-
But that's because of how you structure your library, which is both using lots of standalone note _and_ specifically labelling them to sort to the top of the item list by title (using the _).
-
That would just happen if you annotate a PDF in a group. What exactly isn't working?
-
Are you saying they're just not active links? See e.g. https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/445021/#Comment_445021
-
Zotero doesn't generate Citation Keys in that field at all. You definitely still want BBT
-
And they haven't just migrated to Zotero's Citation Key field, right?
-
Works for me -- try with other add-ons disabled/in troubleshooting mode?
-
If you don't currently use citekeys anywhere (and it doesn't sound like you do) it really doesn't matter what you do, but I guess you might as well let it run, yes. If you want to work with Obsidian, I think you want the BBT plugin (though I don't k…

See https://github.com/retorquere/zotero-better-bibtex/issues/3406

You're not using the plugin at all in anything you describe. The only reason you would use BBT would be to maintain reference in a word processor other than Word, Google Docs, or LibreOffice, especially one that uses plain text -- that'd be LaTeX,…
