• PS: I have now tried to switch to Zotero native storage and here the synch works fine. I can open the papers in Zotpad. However, I'd rather use my existing webdav storage, because it is not as limited as the Zotero storage space.

• Sorry about the late reply. I totally forgot to say thanks for the two answers above. I installed the add-on for "better bibtex" and it is working fine. Thanks a lot!
