Great! Umm... these ones I think I wrote in Notepad++ (I wrote them last year so I'm not entirely sure). Now I have access to OxygenXML, which works a lot nicer.
-
I just fixed the punctuation anyway, so dudukk, if you redownload the Language style from ideophone.org it should work alright. Thanks for helping me on that one, Adam. So what's up with SVN? Do you also get this pre-commit hook complaining about U…

Dudukk, they're ready for use (in fact, I have even published an article using the Journal of Pragmatics style). Just download them from the links above (right click > save as...) and then install them in Firefox as described here: Then, in Firef…

Okay, I changed the term to generic. While you're at it, I also developed a style for another linguistics journal: Journal of Pragmatics (Elsevier). Maybe you could upload that one too. Here are the validated versions of both of them: http://ideoph…

Great job, but really, if our workarounds have to look like this it is quite clear that we need a real solution badly.
-
So... here's a preliminary version: http://ideophone.org/download/language.csl Couple issues still: It should be Dorian, Nancy C. (ed.) 1989 instead of Dorian, Nancy C. (ed.). 1989. — I couldn't think of a way to get rid of that final period after…

I remember there was something already. Let me search for it. In any case, here is the information needed: Official style sheet: http://www.lsadc.org/info/pubs-lang-style.cfm and http://linguistlist.org/pubs/tocs/JournalUnifiedStyleSheet2007.pdf Co…

There once was talk about providing a cleanup facility listing all of the names of authors, publishers, places, and other such entities in the database. See this topic. Is this still planned for the foreseeable future? It becomes more and more impor…

Aha — it's since I installed Zoterename. Thanks!
-
Sorry, I don't have to use MLA (fortunately)...
-
Noksagt, that is absolutely beautiful.
-
Indeed, Firefox is very tolerant of inconsistant slashes. Even this works: file:///C:\Documents%20and%20Settings Though note that it is automatically corrected by FF to your version. But I just thought it's never a terribly good idea to be inconsist…
-
Which invites the question: when?
-
Preliminary comments: 1. Your slashes are mixed (forward and backward) in these examples — are they also like that in your RIS file? I think FF can handle either, but they need to be used consistently. 2. Are you saying that the link to the PDF in…

I agree with adamsmith about the dangers of feature bloat. If someone wrote a plugin that interfaced with Zotero to offer this functionality it would be cool, but it sounds like a feature that would only be useful to a small proportion of Zotero's u…

But almost all print journals nowadays also supply DOIs, and surely their medium is print?
-
This makes absolute sense. I've had this problem too with different editions of books that I wanted to 'relate' to each other. Year (date of publication) seems absolutely essential. The most flexible option would be one in which you can specify a te…

Add /top to the end of the URL path to get only top-level items Ah, cool.

And I think the increasing amount of RIS issues we get here is both heartening - because I believe it's a sign for an increasing movement from Endnote - and disheartening - because I think you're right that many people don't make it to the forum. Ye…
-
Addition: a 'How to import your EndNote library' tutorial would be helpful. But right now there is little point in having one, since it would say things like, 'If the import process fails for some reason, try importing all references starting with A…
-
Okay, that's why I was asking. You happen to be an empowered user who can do these things; the bulk of new Zotero users isn't. And what reaches the forums is always just the tip of the iceberg. I know from my own experience with colleagues that th…

(Crossposting) There is a temporary workaround in the form of the Zoterename plugin that allows you to save a shortcut which opens a new FF window with Zotero maximized. See here, and explanation here.

So did the error message that Zotero gave you help you in troubleshooting?
-
What adamsmith says. Thing is, chances are small that you'll find a citation style which has specific requirements for manuals. I'd say the manufacturer/division is the author. Since Zotero's entry types are not for the general purpose of making a '…

I'd use either 'Document' or 'Book'. It's a self-contained type of thing. The title will probably make clear that in the class of books/documents, it's a manual.
-
If you have access to Adobe Acrobat Professional, it has a built-in OCR function. I always run that before attaching PDFs in Zotero.
-
Colourful tags (varying the background colour by tag) is quite a nice idea, and it should not be too difficult to implement, right?
-
Bruce, sure, I agree that it would be great (and eminently sensible) if journals would supply and maintain their own styles. I'm an AAA member, I'll send them an email to ask for CSL support as soon as Zotero+CSL is up for it.
