Please find a way for Zotero to recognize the beginning of a new chapter (...) as it is right now, the lack of this function results in citations that are orphaned from the database How does the second follow from the first? What do you mean by cita…

Just clicking on a couple recent registrations under New Zotero People, there's a terrible amount of spam accounts. Three examples: http://www.zotero.org/richardc2641 and http://www.zotero.org/patriciag2982 (use the same picture) http://www.zotero.…

Just to be sure, you installed the .xpi version from here?
-
Do you have the latest version of the Word plugin?
-
gconyers, from your description it is not clear whether you only updated the Zotero addon (which would indeed have come to you by way of an automatic prompt) or also the Word plugin, which you have to install manually from this location.

Good to know the RTF scan worked! Too bad no one has created a feature to accomplish this (the task has been posted for 2 years now it seems). Thing is, multiple steps are needed on the user's side (e.g. importing your EndNote library into Zotero) …

Yes indeed! See also the Thank You for 2.0 Thread.

Hi Bradley, welcome to Zotero! There are numerous threads on this (1, 2, 3, 4), though note that some of these are old. The current status seems to be that there is no automated conversion process (for various reasons). However, if you flatten al…

Okay, it seems the case is quite strong then. How difficult can it be to add this field?
-
[edit: changed category. I guess it's a feature request] I ran into this while working on the Unified Style Sheet for Linguistic Journals, but I'm sure there are other styles out there in need of this.
-
This is very useful, Ben. Thanks for documenting it. I also very much like your idea of making this a serverside script. A web service converting EndNote XML to good RIS would be a killer application.
-
But this is not the same article. Can you get us the correct and the Zotero-generated citations of one and the same article so that the differences are easy to spot? I can see that the year in the second version doesn't follow the authors as it does…
-
So, Dan, is this enough people making the case that the default behavior should be changed?
-
The RTF scan is worth trying. Doing that, or doing it like Simon, gives you the ability to shuffle references, add in new ones, etc. with the confidence that Zotero is keeping your bibliography up to date. That is much better than plugging in an ess…

Umm... I think the two are distinct. In any case, the LSA standard is only for the journal Language, so the Unified one is more important and theoretically supercedes it.
-
(I'm hoping adamsmith comes along and tells us that this can be done in five minutes...)
-
Okay, I don't have the time right now, but based on a comparison of the items in the collection above with the reference list in the PDF, here is a list of changes that would have to be made in the Language (LSA) style, which seems to be close enoug…

Aha, I got that too. Good. So where can we find more information about Zotero File Storage?
-
when I tried "Generate Report from Collection...", I expected a different sort of "report". The summary list is very nice, but it would also be nice if it were preceded by a heading with some basic info about the collection (e.g., its name, creation…

Ah, let it come already! For the last three weeks ago various people have been saying 'in a few days' and 'very soon' and 'just wait a little while'. I can't wait anymore!
-
I hear the new Word plugins (to released soon, I hope — though 'in a few days' has proven to be a very loosely used term here) have been recoded, so chances are this problem is gone with the new version that comes with Zotero 2.0beta7.
-
But migugg, tweaking citation styles to get around messed up data doesn't solve the problem; it just makes it more difficult to spot for some time.
-
On interoperability: given the number of threads here in the forums, it would be fair to note that EndNote is really sloppy at exporting its data, especially in RIS format; and they seem not intent on fixing this very soon. Zotero on the other hand…
-
And you could also consider using collections. Zotero will remember the collection you last used, so if you have one 'library' in one collection (and subcollections) and the other in another, switching libraries is actually lightning quick.
-
How about you join the CSL styles development group and share a test set of references so as to make sure everyone is troubleshooting with the exact same data? Perhaps a subcollection 'Troubleshooting' in the group library is the best way to do it.
-
'A few days' as in by the end of this week?
-
I made a group for this recently that we could use for this purpose: CSL styles development. I think that would be the best way to share test cases.
-
I'm bumping this old topic to ask what's the current status. HTML export still produces presentational markup. Biggest problem is that this includes not just a superfluous div, but that the styling is set using inline CSS, which is impossible to ove…

Do make a backup of the stuff at the old location before you change to the new version, though. Just in case.
