@t.kmetz — note that this thread is about sorting in the library window, not in word processor-plugin generated bibliographies (where it makes perfect sense that sorting is done according to style selected). If you examine the library window, you'l…

Thanks all for your comments. To be clear, I agree with noksagt that "Developer priority is (and both should and must be) different than user priorities." The problem lies in the followup question: "Can one not already accomplish a similar thing by …

Rationale for this kind of system: If properly tended — and this can easily by done by committed users— a setup like this is a great tool for developers to get a clear idea of what the userbase considers to be high priority issues. The rating system…

Check this and let us know what you think.

Very clever. And it works! I find it easier to have text record of all the missing files so I adjusted your batch code as follows: @echo off echo @echo off > missingfiles.bat sqlite3.exe zotero.sqlite "SELECT ('@IF NOT EXIST "^""' || REPLACE(i…

here's (again) a little more demand

Seems to me creating links by drag and drop would come in handy for many users. There has been talk of this before in other threads. One way to implement it would be a preference (hidden pref perhaps if you don't want the interface cluttered) for Zo…

Re point 5 — you can actually solve that in three clicks by doing an advanced search for all PDF attachments, saving the search, selecting all of those PDFs, right-clicking and selecting 'Rename File from Parent metadata'. This will take quite some …

I'm quite sure I have added my voice to this in this or some other thread, but I'll do it again. I think this is important for enough users to be a development priority.
-
Another +1 — essential in larger libraries.
-
And don't forget to empty your Trash.
-
It isn't. COinS is terribly incomplete, and I haven't seen activity since the 1.0 version of the standard. I've been thinking Zotero should fork it and add support for this as well as for inexcusable omissions like editors.
-
I like ajlyon's suggestion to have a couple of default saved searches. Makes users familiar with a feature and makes their life easier. Good thinking!
-
A plug-in similar to the one available for MS Word is impossible, because Textedit does not offer a rich scripting environment for Zotero to hook into. Your best bet is probably to insert your citations manually in the format '(Adams 2006)', save a…
-
Indeed — Powerpoint simply doesn't support scripting (automating actions) the same way that Word does. This is a limitation of Powerpoint, not of Zotero.

Any news on this?

Same holds for attaching PDFs from the file system. On my library (+4500 items), pdf fulltext indexing simple results in too much of a slowdown so I've had to turn it off. That is a shame of course, since it used to be one of the more important feat…

@jmndp: surely you can do a recursize search for files inside those folders, and then sort by size?
-
Yeah, but it feels wrong to have to make that whole pane broader just to get a few input fields to behave satisfactorily. Besides, at least in my workflow, the middle pane is much more important and information-rich, so I always like to have the rig…

ScienceDirect does work for me. Can you give an example of a URL that doesn't work?

+1 For many research groups and universities, the fact that group libraries don't sync over WebDAV is a dealbreaker. I do hope an institution will come along with some developer time to spare so that they can work on this; since Zotero is open so…
-
Crush, note that you have to insert the range manually in the word processor plugin anyway — so on your end, you just have to insert "4ff." instead of "4-6" in the 'page' field while inserting a citation.
-
Unfortunately, that's not possible at present. See this topic.
-
Yes. Try restore from server. This won't bring back your attachments if you didn't have file syncing enabled though.
-
Absolutely. The web interface to public groups (and libraries for that matter) is virtually useless at this point. I pointed this out some time ago in another topic.
-
Can I bump this? As libraries grow older and larger they accumulate problems with attachments, and cleanup becomes a necessity. What I suggest is cleanup options like the following: * A way to display orphaned /storage/ subfolders * A way to displ…

Setting this as a default for Public and Shared groups might be sensible. Not for Private and Closed groups probably.

You might as well first create the bibliographic item (or import it from some repository, like JSTOR or CSA or Google Scholar) and then drag the PDF onto your item. That way you don't have to change the Item type and all from 'webpage' to whatever t…
-
There is no 'misc' item type though (check the list). What are you trying to add? How are you adding it (manually or from the web)? If from the web, is it a web page or does Zotero provide a translator? See getting stuff into your library for backgr…

By 'style' do you mean item type?
