Has this seen any work since last year? At the very least, creating a new item for a PDf for which metadata wasn't retrieved would make many people happy. And since the code is already there (for non-PDFs) it shouldn't be difficult.
-
Bump. Please see initial post for clear description of the problem.
-
Agreed, I like this proposal to rephrase. See also a related proposal to improve the language of another dialog window: This item no longer exists in your database.
-
That was 2.1.6-r-something (I was on the branch XPI on the advice of Dan a few weeks ago, when 2.1 introduced some regressions in citation formatting). I'm now back on 2.1.6 stable. Firefox 3.6.3.
-
It can never have automatically created a reference. Are you looking for the "Retrieve metadata for PDF" option in the context menu?
-
As for your second request, just drag the link to the PDF from your browser right onto the item. The PDF will be added as an attachment. See #1 here.
-
I would also like to have sth like this, and I note that much of the interface needed is already there — in the form of the conflict resolution window that occassionally comes up after syncing.
-
Having those coloured tags at the top of the list makes great sense. I don't think the context menu is that full - three sections so far with seven options in total. I would prefer the Thunderbird-like context menu option since I usually keep the t…

Wow, that's great! I'm engulfed in work so can't afford messing with another profile now. I hope someone else can test this. Handling of multiple tags is not crucial (and potentially very thorny) — the most common use case seems to be a moving que…

I think that this is another of those issues that feels like it's difficult to implement because it involves so many thorny issues and possible use cases etc. But a starting solution would be to do what I suggested before: link colour-coding to cert…

This is probably not possible at the moment. The web interface to the groups is notoriously underdeveloped. The client interface on the other hand doesn't give you access to who contributed which link. A workaround would be to ask your students to…

I would be happy with such a fast insert mode. It fits the more general workflow of working with fields in Word. For instance, I don't expect the TOC to be updated anytime page numbers change downstream. I specifically hit F9 to refresh fields if ne…

Thanks! Do I also need to update the word processor integration to trunk, as that page somewhat ambiguously seems to suggest, or can I stay with 31b1?
-
What if I need this now? Could I switch to the multilingual version to get it fixed?
-
Adamsmith's point is quite right: in the absence of a "backup" sign in the interface, clueless manual-hating users will go for "export" (with the well known fall-out symptoms of coming to ask for help here when it is too late). Seems to me a "Backup…

I can report the same excruciating slowness when adding new citations. Mine is a huge document too (400 pages, no bibliography yet). From a UI point of view, what is somewhat annoying (besides the time lag) is that no indication is given of what i…

This was listed for 2.1 on the ticket but it doesn't look like it got through. Any update about the status? Is it particularly difficult or tricky to implement?
-
Okay, thanks for checking. I really hope this'll be solved soon, it seems pretty serious also in terms of backward compatibility.
-
Thanks guys, sorry for the double post.
-
(To be clear, I'm talking about in-text citations, not about the bibliography.) / edit, [expletive deleted], it is a problem in the bibliography too! So I get: Jakobson, Roman. Autumn. Subliminal Verbal Pattering in Poetry. Poetics Today, 2, 127-1…

Really looking forward to this Frank. Thanks for your work!

Any dev taken a look at this?
-
Don't cut and paste by item. If you don't find a solution, let me know how I can contact you for you to send me your library. Though I stay far from using it, I have access to EndNote X.
-
Finally synced! After again resetting and clicking through hundreds of pointless conflict resolution dialogs, my library is now synced.
-
And again. Error df4a453e / 342646288. / five min later: plus an SSL error: 174987670.
-
Well it gets more interesting. I now get "Error processing uploaded data. Error fb1ff3ae." And still it is not synced. ("Report errors" error code 9886768.)
-
Many of them were indeed notes, though not all. I'll see if I get to see them again.
-
Well I tried both but my debug log is still giving this "Associated libraries are locked" with the incremental timeout (D2092104054). What does that mean?
-
If you can't get it to work, I think a solution might be to open your library in a newer EndNote version and export it from there. Do you have anyone that could help you with that?
-
(BTW I will have to be offline for the day now, so I'm not able to let it run five hours like yesterday.)
