Joscha: have you thought about using a Dropbox variable instead of hardcoded file locations? That would solve my issue in working with multiple computers where Dropbox is not always on the same drive letter or even in the same folder structure. See…

Until it's fixed. It's worked this way for as long as I can remember though, it's not something new. All the more troubling. Thing is, you're not going to see it until you change styles, in which case you suddenly can't trust anymre that everything …

Whoah, I would agree that merely opening the Show Editor should definitely not freeze the citation as if it had been edited. I often use it for preview and I suspect many users do. Do I now have to worry about stray citations left frozen amongst the…

Neat neat neat that new interface. Small visual suggestion: the Z seems not in line with the icons in the other applications: a bit too fat. Or is that because standalone has a similar fat Z?

Please check whether this page contains an answer for you.

No worries. Just for reference, items end up in the collection you have currently open. If you have no collection selected, they end up under "My Library" and consequently also under "Unfiled items".

Here's a Windows user. Yes, the button is (sadly) greyed out.

Usually it's easier to first get the metadata in Zotero (e.g. from Google Scholar) and then drag the file you want to add as an attachment onto the item.

It is a nice interface and quite helpful after the fact. Thank you to Dan for adding it. I keep thinking however that prevention is better than cure, and that many users would be helped by a simple, quick preflight check that would alert them when t…

Agreed with all points. I believe major improvements are coming up in a soon to be released new version though so some of them may be addressed.
-
I also quite like the interface (though I do hope a preflight check is not off the radar — users would be much helped by it). However, I have almost only false positives. Merely having the same title (but different authors and different years) appea…

Yes you can put a tag on multiple items. Select the items, make sure the tag pane is visible, drag the items onto the tag. Not sure though what become of the other features discussed here.

Aha, that explains it. Well, that means the Zotero Firefox-Chrome connection essentially only works now if you upgrade to Zotero 3 Beta. I made a blog post about this and will update accordingly.
-
Very nice, Simon! This looks like a workable solution for what I wanted.
-
I see. As far as I know that old one auto-upgraded to the latest version, or is that not possible? I will probably upgrade to the Zotero 3 beta. Since no db upgrade is needed that doesn't feel very dangerous.
-
That is not an existing preference in my Firefox about:config. Does that mean I need to update to the Zotero 3 beta before being able to use the Chrome connector again? (For the record, I have manually added the preference and set it to true, but t…

Two important arguments for them could be that Zotero is: * widely used by scholars (may have many more users than Bookends and Sente in fact) so may bring more users to Mellel * open source, well-documented and with existing word processor plugins …

If I may advise you, the time it would take to get your "library document" working again would be better spent learning to work with Zotero collections, notes and tags. It's a match made in heaven for "not so well organized persons with bad memory".…

That depends on what you did since clicking the button. If you haven't saved the document, there is a chance that you can undo. But if you saved, it will be difficult to go back and you would have to look for a backup copy of an earlier version or r…

Now, all my litterature is sorted in an openoffice file in different chapters (a huge file that took me ages to make). What does this mean? Is the openoffice file a way for organizing the references in your library? Zotero offers many possibilities …

As this issue has not been reported before here, it is most likely that one of your other addons is causing this. Disable all addons and see what happens. Re-enable them one by one to find the culprit.
-
Nope, this is not possible at present. You can use Advanced Search to search for specific authors, but it is not possible to display last authors in the columns in the middle pane.
-
Ah good. Reported via their contact page.

Re #4, ordering, I wrote "Of course alphabetic ordering would also make little sense.", but actually it makes a lot more sense than the ordering by date which is practically the same as random. Alphabetic ordering would help in finding groups quickl…

* on the Groups page, Private group libraries are described as "Enabled (Anyone can view, only admins can edit)". Suggest rephrasing to "any member can view, only admins can edit".

There is a CSL Styles Development group for just that purpose.

Oh well, at least I learnt something: sometimes you have to ask for something really stupid to make things happen.

(Sorry, as a non-native I don't get your reply Frank, so I can't compute whether it is irony, a cultural reference, or something else. As I'm a linguist I'd like to know :) )
