Cool, I was testing with this: http://philpapers.org/browse/action-sentences

Hey, There is a small bug in this new translator: when clicking the folder icon on a multiple items page, items which are books were not included. But they were processed when it came to saving items, which meant that attempting to import any …

Hi Dan, Just tried with everything save the various Zotero extensions disabled, but the problem was still there. I then tried with everything save the core Zotero extension disabled (Analytics, Word plugin, etc shut down). That didn't wor…

Hey, Thanks. Yep I've tried that (adamsmith suggested it in a previous thread where I first logged the same issue: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/23885/using-zoteroselect-to-create-links-but-not-via-a-translator/). I re-logged the issue …

Thanks, it's great.

Is it possible that one-way linking (from each mention to bibliography entry) could be done as an intermediate solution? Even this alone would be incredibly useful.
-
Yep, that's true and totally understandable. On the other hand, creating links to items that can be inserted in notes and external documents is something that gets requested fairly frequently from what I've seen - it'd be amazing if it could ac…

It's not just about the content that is placed on the clipboard. But it is also about the type of clipboard entry created. You can store HTML code on the clipboard as plain text, and when you paste it, you'll get all the HTML. Or you can store it…

Oh, that is a shame. I really thought this might solve the problem of linking to Zotero items from Zotero notes and other places. Obviously it doesn't make sense for BibTex, but BibTex isn't the only output format. I've got the translator…

Incidentally, should installing a customer translator just be a matter of copying it to the translators directory? (I'm having trouble re-installing the zotselect-link after the reset).
-
I don't think it is zotselect-link. I've just tried resetting the translators as per your suggestion. I can do that with no errors. When I load up the dialog, again, I can't get access to the drop-down list until I click 'Copy to HTML'. …
-
ps: If I do click 'Copy as HTML' and selecting zotselect-link, that selection is lost presumably as soon as I close the dialog - I've never opened the dialog back up to see anything in that drop-down list.

Okay, here is my error ID: 1087368951. I'm not sure those errors are related to my problem though. (I've seen a number of different errors in there in the last 10 mins, doing exactly the same set of operations). FF: 12.0. Z: 3.0.7. …

Where would I find this error report? (I'm not seeing a visible error. I go to Preferences, Export, and the drop-down is blank. For the most part I can't click on the down arrow to even get a list. It just does nothing. I have seen items in the…

Thanks DonnaCoxBaker, that is helpful. Another way of hacking in a workaround is to tag all of Zotero entries that have more than one date, and then prior to publication go through and manually change all the entries. Hardly ideal, given…
-
Yep, that's true. That will give them much more stable positions than otherwise, especially if your list of meta/status tags is stable, and if you always keep the side panel the same width / view it on the same size monitor. You can also try t…

hi shuibregtse, It sounds like what you're after is very similar to one aspect of what I was after when I originally posted. One thing you can do is setup saved searches based on the tags. This allows you to quickly navigate to sets of do…
-
Ah yes. That's a very interesting thread, thanks for bringing it to my attention via this one. I still use a number of the rarely used fields as custom fields. It is far from ideal, but the usefulness gained is worth it. And like you, when…

Thanks for the heads up adamgolding. I couldn't find any post by yourself on that linked-to thread however (unless it's under a different username).
-
Okay, I may have a look at trying to make one. I'm using Chrome and Zotero Standalone, so the .zot files don't just import straight in for me.
-
sweet thanks
-
(I'm referring to the citation selector/inserter that is part of the Microsoft Word plugin).
-
sweet, i look forward to that. i only avoid firefox due to the memory leak, so its no hardship to use it until the new version.
-
ah okay, I'm using Standalone so I guess that's why. thanks.
-
Thank you mark, I appreicate your comments. The saved search of recently added items is a great tip.
-
Ah yeah, that never occurred to me, thanks!

My issue was this: suppose I have a notes file in which I want to include some citations, but in my library there are two references which match the author and the date. I wouldn't then be able to tell. These notes wouldn't typically be incorporat…

Dan: Yeah okay, fair enough, it is different - to be more precise, those other threads only capture half of what I was after though. The ability to manually change the order by dragging (33), to manually order the collection (694), or to sort the c…
-
Okay, cool, thanks for your reply. I think the issue is that I reference works in places where I will never have a bibliography, and so never have the full information - in effect, I'd like the ability to make references directly to my Zotero …

Just for future reference, my request for sorting / ordering by custom fields is very similar to these requests: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/33/ http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/694/ http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/2909/
