Problem solved for me! Problem was at the very first step: in the "Word add-ins" of the Developer tab, Zotero.dotm was indeed present BUT not ticked. Ticked it, closed and relaunched Word and Zotero tab finally appeared, thanks!

Word Startup folder (where Zotero.dotm lives): C:\Users\Caro\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP Normal.dotm folder: C:\Users\Caro\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates

So I tried creating a new Normal.dotm and it did not change anything. My work PC has the same Office version, and Zotero works fine there. So I copied over my work's Normal.dotm and it's still not working on my home PC, the Zotero tab is still missi…

Hi, I have the same issue here : Zotero.dotm is indeed in the correct Word Startup folder, if I launch it I see the Zotero tab, but all new documents or existing ones are missing it. Creating a new Normal.dotm is not an option as it has already been…

I solved my issue by going into the about:config panel of Standalone and filtering the "locale" values. The value general.useragent.locale was set to en-US. I set it to fr-FR and all is now well. I guess that I picked up the US Standalone setup file…

I fully agree with citizen_x. For me 9 would be a minimum, but more would definitely be welcome! I like being able to see at a glance when searching for a specific term which of the results fall into which category (projects, biblio aspects, model…

I was expecting a much lower number, given that they are all scientific articles coming from peer-reviewed journals. However when developing the whole library, there were a number of items that were linked to a pdf but also to a "PubMed entry" …

I rebuilt the index from scratch, there were considerably less files left out. After a few reindexing unindexed files, the seemingly incompressible number of non-indexed files is down to 171. Does that mean that it's the number of image-based p…
-
Yep, you're right: they were showing up as not indexed, I was able to index them manually and now they do show up in the search. Why were they not indexed earlier? Should I try to rebuild the index from scratch?

It's confirmed: I'm an idiot. I wasn't even reading anymore what's in the search field when empty ("Fields & tags")... Indeed if I select "Everywhere", I now get 15 files. So there are only 2 files that rightfully show up with WE search but…

Hi Adam, My library contains around 1447 entries, all but 206 are linked to a pdf. I'm using the search function of Windows Explorer in the root folder of my library for a very specific term : it returns 17 files. I can check each of them …

Thanks for the info ! So just to be on the safe side and avoid making more of a mess, I decided to uninstall Zotero along with all data and settings, renamed the upstream accented folder (downstream of base directory work fine even if accented …

Great, thanks Dan ! Ok, so if I want to make sure that everything that is on my home PC will be overwritten by the data that is now on the server, I shouldn't do a reset from server but just do a basic sync ?
-
Hi Dan, so I followed these 3 steps and everything was just as it was supposed to be (breaking when moved, then working again when base directory updated). I should add that before performing these steps, the base directory was correctly set. …

Ok, I will try this tomorrow on my work computer and will let you know. Thanks for taking the time to look into this !

What you're saying about the files not being registered under a base directory is weird, because the filepaths are not the same between my work and my home PC so if that really was the case I shouldn't be able to open them at all..? So how can …

I changed it back to THÈSE (original folder name, with the actual È in Windows Explorer displayed as à in Zotero debug reports) and it didn't work, but now that I renamed the folder to its displayed name (THÃSE), it's working..! So it's defin…

Ok I moved the main folder to C:/ and I still have the error : D856714461. The physical path of the file is C:\Biblio\Biblio--CARO\FGF1\Sok...pdf The path displayed in the advanced settings for base directory is : C:\Biblio
-
Yes, I'm sorry if I'm not being clear. The physical folder was named THÃSE before. I couldn't open the PDFs, so I renamed it to THESE, and went to the base directory browser to update the new location. In the advanced panel, it says THESE, but…
-
@Dan the file exists there and I can open it via Windows Explorer/Adobe Reader, but with "THESE" in the filepath and not "THÈSE". The base directory contains "THESE", to reflect the change I made on the physical folder name, but is not taken in…

@aurimas Yes it works fine on the first computer, however it never worked properly on my home computer (as in, I never could open the linked PDFs even though they're properly located), and the same problem occurs on my laptop

Here it is : D1459812099 EDIT : that one is shorter : D249317314. I think Zotero hadn't finished its startup when I submitted the first one. My main folder is /Biblio/ (the one I selected as the base directory on both computers), and the "THÃ…

Perfect, it did absolutely what I wanted it to do ! Couldn't install it at first because the Zotero add-ons manager kept on loading and did absolutely nothing when I clicked on "install from file", but I just had to click on the "Extensions" ta…

Thanks Adam ! Can I use this add-on with the standalone ? I'm using the Zotero standalone and I can't seem to find the Zutilo menu to look at the various options available..?
