  • I'd just enable this by default and automatically highlight collections containing the item.
  • I was mistaken - it DOES work for me on Firefox on Linux (though the Alt key is double-bound - it also causes the Firefox menu to appear and disappear as a side-effect). Anyway - I have the functionality I need, so thanks!
  • Hi Dan, Thanks for the response, and sorry for the delay in replying. That's exactly what I need. It doesn't seem to work in the Firefox plugin on Linux - is it a Zotero standalone-only feature? It would be great to have this in the right-…
  • No problem; thanks for the help from you and the rest of the team - I can now collect my papers without any frustration! Seb
  • Hi there, Last comment on this now: I think that Zotero SHOULD store/recall the last highlighted collection, and that it should allow the user to "save to zotero" into that collection whether or not there is a Zotero tab open in the current win…
  • I think I got it. I found that I need to have a Zotero tab open _in the same Firefox window_ as the PDF I am about to download. When I open a PDF in Firefox, it usually/often spawns a new window to display the PDF with the built-in Firefox…
  • Hi Dan, It's a shame you can't reproduce the behaviour - thanks for trying. I'll keep monitoring to establish a clear method to recreate the problem or some reliable way I can work around it. Thanks for your help, Seb
  • Ping. I'm sure the comment: "Oh, you just haven't opened Zotero since you last started Firefox. If you want to save into something..." Is NOT the solution to this issue I'm seeing. best regards, Seb James
  • Hi Dan, In all of the previous reported cases, Zotero was open as a tab in Firefox. In some cases, it may have been that the Zotero tab was reopened automatically by Firefox at startup. However, I just opened Firefox afresh, then pressed t…
  • I checked the database integrity and there were no errors reported. Here's another problem Debug ID, created with the latest beta: D1633505355.
  • The Debug ID is D1456990438. I downloaded a PDF called "The Cortical Motor System", having highlighted a collection called "Reach" in my remote group "NoTremor". This error message was shown between "Save to Zotero" and the "Retrieve Meta…
  • That's right - it's an intermittent fault and I can't detect any systematic reason to suggest why it fails. It appears at the moment to be random. It does occur frequently though. I shall switch to 4.0 beta and try to collect a debug log for a …
  • Here is another Debug ID: D916264687. This shows what is supposed to happen. In this case, the journal article WAS saved to the group collection successfully (though here the metadata could not be accessed). I have restarted Firefox s…
  • Yes, it's a regular collection; a direct child of the group library root.
  • I did save a file to the item I created - I clearly remember this. I can confirm that I can indeed save a file to an item in the collection on the remote group.
  • Ok, great. Thanks for your help. Please let me know if there's anything else I need to do. Seb James
  • Hi Dan, The second debug ID was in response to: adamsmith 29 minutes ago "And can you confirm that you can not only create an item in that group manually but also attach a file to it?" So the second debug ID should simpl…
  • Dan Stillman - that's right - I had the collection in my group called "NoTremor" highlighted - that was the location I wanted. However, zotero told me I couldn't save it into the selected collection and it would have to be saved into my personal lib…
  • Yes, did that; Debug ID is D144237024. I may not have chosen precisely the same collection, but it's in the same group.
  • I uninstalled zotfile, to take that out of the equation. I then made sure I had a collection from my remote group selected, and tried to add a paper to the collection. I saw the error message and was informed I would have to add it to my library. …
  • Ok, I'll go ahead and generate a Debug ID. I may try uninstalling zotfile as I believe it was occurring prior to my installation of that plugin.
  • This is a "me too" message. I see this error message frequently. I DO use a Zotero group, but I have write access to the group. I also use zotfile. Sometimes I can save PDFs into the correct, highlighted collection (either in the remote group, or in…
