Agreed, this is what I’d expect, too — and what actually does work, too, as proven by the French version of the SLSP/ZHAW Primo. But given the nature of Primo VE and the SLSP setup being a brand new one, I still suspect the service provider to be re…

@zuphilip you might be right. Looking at the SLSP Primo, the Italian setting is like the German with 'libro' as value for display/title, while the French, like the English setting reads 'book'.
-
@adamsmith this is probably not fixable by the library itself. AFAICT these libraries use PrimoVE, an SAAS variant of Primo where the libraries have little influence on the creation of PNX data. Only ExLibris could. I haven’t looked at the translat…

This is indeed a new item type, introduced some weeks ago. A legal commentary is a document type, commonly found in European civil law systems. It provides a critical interpretation of the articles and sections of a law. Structurally, a legal comm…

I think neither of them is a good choice. I’d rather go with bill or statute. There are reports by the UN which look differently when cited and treaties are different too. I’d like to discuss it with @fbennett and the Juris-M community. A common sol…

I *think*, this should be possible with the CSL-M alternative extension. I’m not sure about the linebreak between the two elements, though. You might consider asking on the Juris-M support mailing list (https://mail.law.nagoya-u.ac.jp/mailman/listi…

If you are comfortable with using a text editor and using the terminal, an alternative workflow would be to use the citeproc-test-runner on the desktop: https://github.com/Juris-M/citeproc-test-runner You’d put together a set of test items in a gr…

Using 'vgl.' to indicate indirect citations is not a rule at just some German universities but very widespread in German language citation guides for bachelor and master theses at least in the humanities, social studies and related subjects. As it’s…

LG Georg

While I don't like the didactic approach of educating a user by hiding functionality I really appreciate this fix for the sake of consistency. Thanks for the quick action!

Sorry. Of course it was 'Web Page' in English and 'Webseite' in German.
-
@dstillman teaching Zotero earlier this week, I wanted to demonstrate this and was very astonished to find ‘Website’ listed under the (+) menu. That was on Zotero 5.0.91 on MacOS. It’s the same on the current beta (5.0.92-beta.3+...) Double-checking…

Please, don’t use the dot above. The correct symbol · is ano teleia (U+0387/ ·), its closest Latin script equivalent is the middle dot · (U+00B7).

@BlackJack1 I'm sorry to tell you that German legal support in Jurism is not ready yet. There's a couple of functionalities still missing, that hopefully will make it in the next months. Please, have a look at https://github.com/Juris-M/zotero/issue…

As stated elsewhere (https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/177040) already, a field (and CSL variable) for the ECLI (European Court Law Identifier) is necessary. It’s an ID for identifying juridic acts, unified for all EU and EU member states…

@maier.de is it the same in Switzerland in any of the three languages (I fear, there’s no legal citation style for Rumantsch)?
-
@adamsmith For commentaries/Kommentare specifically, what I'd want to see before considering is a wider need or a higher level category we can use for it. I'd be reluctant to add an item type that's specific to one discipline in one country. I trie…

Yes, I think the looseleaf example is an extreme one which I won’t pursue here. So, I’m looking foreward to the improvements of the locator-extra in Jurism. Still, I think it would be great if the commentary document type would be implemented in C…

When there is a second cite to the overall work, but to a different commentator, should the citation be of short form, or should the full details of the overall work be shown again? That's a good question. I haven't found an authoritative statement…
-
@fbennet it’s not entirely clear to me what the locator-extra currently does or what it should do. If implemented as intended, the locator-extra should provide idem tracking? Considering the following footnotes (first and subsequent citation): Dan…
-
Thanks for reminding me of the locator-extra. I think, in this case, it wouldn’t help if I understand correctly. My approach would have been using the prefix which could work in plain Zotero. However, if my understanding of how the things work is c…

@zuphilip thanks for jumping in. My experience with students and scholars in legal studies is that such workarounds for them subjectively add to the already existing complexity of legal citation. In the end, many only see the complexity of the solu…

IMHO, even if legal and ML citation requirements are not mainstream, implementing solutions for them in one general reference management software can prove beneficial for many more users. Thus, edge cases in more mainstream fields could be handled t…
-
@bwiernik I‘m aware of Juris-M, nevertheless thanks for the advice. For one, Juris-M doesn’t support an item type "Commentary" either (neither does it seem to support hierarchical relationships). What’s more, I’m not happy with a fragmentation of t…

Juridic citation styles need a type ‘Commentary’. Commentaries often come in some kind of a collection that looks like an edited book redacted by some type of editor. The commentaries on the individual sections are often authored by different commen…

@adamsmith I can't reproduce the proxy problems as I'm from a different Viennese university and don't have access to their proxy. But we are in the same consortium so I know about the technical background and could contact their systems people if ne…
