thanks to tim820 I was able to clean by database of 500Mb of screenshots, and now I can use then "move from" and "move to" directory, and now annotating on my tablet using Zoom mobile works great :-)
-
Thanks very much for the trick. Actually "snapshot" is found in the "All Field & Tags" quicksearch. CTRL-A does mark only the snapshots then and they can be deleted with a click. I did some more cleaning and figured out that sometimes Zotero kee…

Just as a follow up, for anybody interested, here is the final functioning Actions script to get the tags from the annotations to the main item : https://github.com/windingwind/zotero-actions-tags/discussions/545#discussioncomment-15603854

Ok, if the "as needed" is really working this way, that would be great. But first I need to find a way to get rid of the larger screenshots. Trouble is that I can find the easy on the hard disk, but haven't found an easy way yet to figure out to whi…

Thanks, but this would try to synchronize all of the screenshots which are stored in My Library, so nearly 1Gb, so not possible for me.
-
As far as I understand tim820's description (his first post " Such that with file synchronizing turned ON") and my understanding of Zoteros functioning, he suggests to switch file synching ON for the local database, but keep most pdfs as linked pdfs…
-
Because the method suggested by tim820 needs synchronisation of attachments of the whole local database : I have >6000 references with >5500 pdfs, and and even as most of them are linked, I still have had some "accidents". But these are not th…

I have a very similar set-up. I also use only linked pdfs, but given the size of my database, I haven't checked if there are snapshots and notes in the zotero storage that would be synchronized if I would switch the synching of attachments on. So I…

I have the same problem on my Onyx Boox note Air : handwriting notes on the pdf is extremely slow, even when writing slowly, the actually show trace lags one letter behind. There are already several reports on this https://forums.zotero.org/discussi…

Ok, thanks, got it, but that does only allow to move the annotations to the note, and not the tags. I have put a new discussion on the script on the Github. I'll keep you posted if I get any replies. Oliver

Thanks a lot Tim820 for your detailed answer and tips. I might understand "then select the ones you want" wrongly, but when I have the annotated pdf open, and see the tags bottom left, I can select them by clicking on them, but right clicking on the…

I can only agree with many of the other comments here : without Zotfile working, I will not update to Zotero7. I have 20 years old directory structure for my pdf collection, and I'm clearly not going to change this, especially that now Windows search…

This seems to be a problem which has been there for a long time and has been reporter over and over again. starting in 2010 with : https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/11498 https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/34898 https://forums.zotero.org/disc…

I would also appreciate this very much. Author names that have accents are not always written in the same way, or the accents are omitted. I would be helpfull if searcing for "Bergès" one would also find "Berges", or "Maçoni" finds "Maconi" and vice…

great, thanks, I will try this.

I have talked to a couple of colleagues about this problem, and they all agree that being able to go from a simple search in a collection to the whole library would be appreciable.
-
You are correct, for some reason some items have the same DOI. I'll have to check that. Thanks a lot for the comment.
-
Thanks for these tips, I had missed holding down the ALT key. This helps quite a lot.
-
Thanks for the indications. As you said, finally I find the most usefull way to save directly from the article page. Then I use Zotfile to rename. The more I get into working with Zotero, the more I like it. And I have some history, having used 5 v…

also a field for the names of the editors (not authors) is missing. Sorry, just found that one can change the role of the contributors

Thanks very much for your detailed comment. I think I will have to link the files as and when I work on the references. Otherwise, Windows search is extremely rapid in finding my files.

I'm using a naming convention that does not seem to be (completely) possible in Zotfile and I wondered if this could perhaps be introduced ? I use generally simply "author.year.pdf", son "%a.%y.pdf" and for the cases where I have several publi…

Dear Joscha, thanks for your reply, you wrote : ------------------- Olib170, if you still want to implement your scenario, which I think is different, open an issue on github. I am happy to point at the relevant parts of the code but I don't…
-
Following comment of krcrouse : Thanks for the additional test. This shows quite well where the problem lies, even outside of my own objective. So I agree with you that Zotfile should quite generally check if in the destination the expected ou…

As Joscha's answer was not 100% negative, I'll try again ;-) it seems to be one of the major critiques of Zotero that it is not able to connect to an existing pdf storage (in terms of one directory, including sub-directories). I think with j…

Hello, I'm just trying to set up my existing database (Bibtex) and pdf collection for use in Zotero. Unfortunately I had to learn that Zotero cannot use an existing pdf collection as it is and will copy it into its own (rahter hidden) filesystem.…
